I would think the 'butt paste' would help b/c it is so thick but my pharmacist told me to use Hydrocortisone cream. I used it on myself and w/ in 4 days of use, it was going away. It does come back later however but if you continue it will stay away.

Hi A.,

Renew lotion is the only cream I know that will "heal" ezcema. Just FYI, Ezcema is completely systemic. That means it comes from the outside in. Adjusting your little one's diet will get rid of it completely if done aggressively. If you want details I'll be glad to help!

Is the eczema on the butt??? I've lived with horrible eczema since a child. What helps most is moisturizing cream and luke warm (not hot) water. Depending on the age of the child too you can seek the help of a good dermatologist who may perscribe some topic ointments.

My 4 month old son has eczema and our doctor recommended lotions like Keri, or Lubriderm as long as they are fragrance free.

I agree with Stacey with a neighbor as a nurse they are exactly right with their comments because I lived with it all over my body for at least 15yrs until I found the right dermantolgist to clear me completely up. I still get it in my joint areas or were I might sweat and I just put a dabe of medicated cream on it and its gone in a couple of days. Good luck in your findings for your kid. OOH also damp off slightly when getting out of the tub and always moisturize your baby body. I don't feel taking less of a bath in week will make difference.

I'm not sure if it's actually for eczema but the "butt cream" has zinc oxide in it and that helps to moisturize, condition and heal skin. HTH

Different people's eczema responds differently to different products/applications. I had a grandson w/severe eczema as an infant, and the Dr. prescribed 'Derma Smooth' (available only w/an Rx) and Eucerin cream (or the generic equivalent). It worked wonders!

When my daughter was 3 months she has moderate exzcema. My doctor suggest 0.5% hydrocrtisone cream to the "hot spots" twice daily. My neighbor is an old school pediatric nurse & she suggested Vanicream. She told me to bath my child in luke warm water, no longer than 10 minutes, and slather on the Vanicream while she was still damp. It totally cleared it up. Hope you find a solution.

Aquaphor and Aveeno Baby Lotion help. Especially straight out of the bathtub, slather on the lotion and then top with Aquaphor. Oh, and remember not to bathe the child too often, as it can exaggerate the dryness.

That is one method on how you can treat the external symptoms of eczema, but eczema itself is actually most often related to diet or some type of allergy that is manifesting itself in this way. I recommend seriously looking at your child's diet and considering cutting out different foods for a period of time and seeing what helps. Common culprits are gluten/wheat and dairy, but even just an excess of processed foods can trigger it.
