K.E.
Don't know what procedure this is, but have you thought about ablation? My friend and many I know did the ablation and have been very happy with it.
It looks like you got a lot of responses in favor of the procedure.
Take care,

Hi Mom's!
I am planning on "tying my tubes" with a new procedure called ESSURE. Has anyone out there done this procedure and was it successful? Any info or experiences that you have with ESSURE I would love to hear. Thank you!
THank you all for writing in to share your experiences with with me on the ESSURE procedure. I had my Essure procedure done on Fri, Feb 13th and I am happy with it so far. There was very little cramping and very little blood, I was surprised because I expected lots of cramping and lots of blood. The procedure was really quick, however, I did sleep the rest of the day away because of the shot they gave me. Which was fine, my husband was home all day to watch the kids. In addition, this procedure was done in my doctors office and therefore only had to pay my "co-pay". No hospital bills, etc. Very nice. Now, I, too, can be a positive advocate for the Essure procedure. Thank you all again for your experiences and feedback.

Hi Kristen!
I had the procedure done almost two years ago. I have 4 boys and we decided we're good! LOL!
It was an easy procedure done right in the Dr.'s office. I even watched the Dr. do it. You will be given some meds, some to take prior to and some to take after. But it was fairly painless. There is bleeding afterwards (more than I guess I expected), but it leveled out by the late afternoon. The meds make you sleepy, so when I got home, i just rested for several hours.
Good luck!

I had the procedure done 12/06, after surprise baby number 6 came along! It's a quick in office procedure that is not painful at all...just a little crampy when the coils are placed. After that, I had very light spotting and was a bit achy for the first day. After that, it was all good. The xray 3 months later is a little more uncomfortable, but still better than surgery!
Good luck!!
I had this procedure done in July of 2008. It worked wonderfully for me. The procedure was easy and quick. I was in my OB's office for about 1 hour tops. I was tired the rest of that day, but that was all the "recovery" I had. Let me know if you have anything else you wanna know about it. Good Luck!
I had the Essure procedure done three years ago. For me it was the best option and choice available. Five years prior to the Essure procedure I got Deprovera shots every three months. I have a rare blood disorder that makes me very anemic and extremely fatigued during pregnancy. I had three pregnancies, one ending in miscarriage before begining the Deprovera shots. I had very very heavy monthly cycles. My monthly cycles would last for two weeks. The first week (what I called my pre cycle) was nothing but daily cramps that kept me bedridden then the second week I would bleed heavily for seven days with lots of clotting. I would bleed through both tampons and pads at the same time. When I had my second son (my boys are now 14 and 11) and going through extremely difficult pregnancies I knew that no mattter what that I just wasn't physically able to handle another pregnancy. My oldest son has my blood disorder and my youngest has some disabilities (doctors don't know if my blood disorder is the cause to this). So I went on Deprovera shots, at the time the only other available option I was given was to have a full hysterectomy. I didn't like the options I was given. I went with shots since that was reversible and could be stopped at anytime. When I heard about Essure I was thrilled. It was an in office procedure. I also had my uterus froze as a secondary procedure (cryoablation) due to my heavy cycles. Both the Essure and Cryoablation were done in a two week time period. During the procedures I did feel some mild discomfort and pain, it felt similar to menstrual cramps. I had about a week and a half of recovery time. I had some mild cramping for a week and a half after the procedures, which is very common, I took some midol and was able to maintain normal daily activities. My sex drive is better than ever. I am much more healthy. I now have regular monthly cycles (3 to 4 days mostly spotting and minimal cramping), I still have my ovaries and will go through menopause normally and won't need to take additional hormones. Three months after the Essure procedure I did have to return to the doctor's office and have a test done to make sure the metal blocks that were inserted in my tubes were place properly. This is a painless test.
The best advice I can give you is think this through, research all your options, make a very informed and well thoughout decision. When I had this procedure done I was a single mom taking care of my mother in the end stages of a terminal illness and taking on the emotional/financial care of my father all at the same time. I had known for several years that for me physically having more children was NOT an option for me. I am now remarried and have two step children. I am so happy with my decision, but each person is different. Be sure that this is something that you want as well as your husband. This is NOT a reversible decision. If you think you may want more children later your husband may want to have a Vasectomy as that is reversible. I hope I have helped. Best wishes for your future.
