I had it done in March and have my x-ray to confirm blockage on Monday. Before I had it done I was also worried about the risk of pregnancy after Essure, and learned that IF you wait to stop other birth control until after they've done the x-ray to confirm (which they do 90 days after the actual procedure), there have actually been 0 cases of pregnancy. The only cases have occurred when people had the procedure done, stopped using other birth control, and then found out that they in fact weren't blocked. You HAVE to wait to stop taking your pill or whatever until after your x-ray. Which they tell you. Can't imagine how people wouldn't follow those instructions.

Anyway, easy procedure, easy recovery, no hormones, awesome effectiveness against pregnancy - I'm very happy I had it done.

If your doc does it right there is no possibility of a pregnancy due to the tubes being totally blocked. The doc should have you go in and run the dye through to check and see when it is safe for unprotected sex.

I had it done 2 summers ago. It couldn't have been simpler. I had no troubles or complications. The sedative made me loopy, but it is supposed to. The procedure feels like a pap smear that lasts about 30 min. Not a big deal. I highly recommend it.

Scroll back. This was asked earlier today.

DO IT. I had it done two years ago and no issues at all. I also had Nova Sure done two weeks ago and wish I would have done that even sooner!

I had the procedure in 2010. It has been a year of heaven. Had my yearly exams with no problems. I was using mirena so I had really light periods. With the essure, I have a period and it's a little heavier but it is like clockwork. I am pretty active with the hubby and no scares, worry or anything. I've never heard anyone with a pregnancy after this procedure. Note that after you have the procedure, you go back for the test to ensure that your tubes are completely blocked.
