Essure - Permanent Sterilization Procedure

Has anyone had issues with this procedure? I went to the obgyn today and saw a pamplet about it. The procedure seems relatively straight forward but as I'm googling there seems to be alot of complaints. I was seriously thinking about doing it but don't want cramping and blackouts associated with it. and No hubby looks at me like I've lost my mind when I suggested a vasectomy. Its so easy for men to do why we have to be the only one to suffer.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your response. I do apologize should have searched first before I made yet another posting about Essure. I love the Adiana idea since there is no copper. I've read the Toni book before, its what made be realize I was fertile and I knew I was not going to get my period and alas baby number three on the way:) Really is a good book but I want something more permanent.

Had no issues at all. It was simple. It went in, a few cramps the first day, next day back to normal and next day after back to work. No side effects whatsoever. Tested a few months later and it was perfect.

You could also research Adiana. It is basically the same procedure, but my OB prefers it because the coil isn't inserted as far and she's seen less complications with it. I have not had either yet, but am considering it.

Please look into the fertility awareness method. Toni Weschler wrote a book called "Taking Charge of your Fertility". We used this method to both avoid and acheive pregnancy when we were ready. It's quite reliable... and no side effects!

I wish I could do it but I have a skin allergy to copper and nickel and other cheap metals. For instance, sandals made with nickel in the buckles? Yeah, the buckle can't touch my skin or I get eczema there. Metallic paint with actual metal in it? Same deal.

Because of that metallurgical allergy I can't use the Essure.

I had the Adiana done, it was recommended by my doctor over the Essure because it does not have metal, plus I had uterine ablation done at the same time and because the ablation uses heat, he did not want metal in there to act as a conductor to the wrong areas! I had no problems with the procedure, just some mild cramping that same day and was back to work the next day!

Had it done three years ago. Down for a few hours after I got home and just slept. PERFECTLY fine the next day but stroked it a couple of extra days while my husband was home. :)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I'd do it again in a heart beat!

Look back at old posts. This gets asked almost WEEKLY!

I considered it too, talked about it with my man he wants to get a vasectamy done first then if something goes wrong with that we will try the Essure. I have not done any further research on it but if that is a consistant side effect then maybe it is best he get snipped! Is that an option in your household?
