ENT Recommendations

Can anyone tell me if they have any recommendations for pediatric ENTs in the South Hills/Pittsburgh area? My peds. recommended two practices - one the woman on the phone was rude and they can't take my 22 month old until April. The other was very friendly and could take my daughter as soon as next Tuesday (makes me wonder why he has such a light patient load).

Recurring ear infections and other illnesses have left my daughter completely traumatized by doctors, so any referrals for docs who are particularly good with scared kids would be a bonus.

TIA,

C.

We saw Dr David Cho. He is located both in Oaklnd at childrens and has a satelite office in Wexford. He was wonderful with my son. He also deals well with a very scared and nervous mother.

Hi C.-
I recommend Dr. Louis Felder. He has an office in Oakland & another in Bethel Park at the UPMC center behind Bed, Bath & Beyond. He was recommended by a friend who was a recovery room nurse at Children's. He removed my oldest daughter's tonsils and adnoids. My younger daughter had issues with perforated ear drums and had hearing lost. Dr. Felder did a tympanoplasty and my daughter's hearing was returned to normal.
I've heard Dr. Dohar is very good but VERY difficult to get an appointment with as a new patient. Good luck!

Hi C.
I have taken my daughter to Dr Dohar over at the Childrens Hospital location in Bethel Park. He is an amazing Dr. My daughter has had complications in her throat and has had many ear infections and he has provided wonderful care to us and I trust him and he is really good with kids and would recommend him highly.

C.,

My son got his tubes at 9 months from Dr. Jones at Metropolitan ENT. He did an excellent job and my son has been ear infection free since.

He took the time to answer our questions patiently, and was very kind to both us and our son. At 9 months, my son wasn't super aware of what was going on. But I took him in for a follow up at 18 months, and Dr. Jones was very good with him. He let him sit in my lap and distracted him with magazines and other objects he knew would interest him. My normally "war of strangers" son took to him right away.

I would recommend him.

Dr. Turner has been around for a long time and holds a strong reputation in several of the local hospitals.
I "think" he has offices in both Pittsburgh at Children's and in Monroeville.

My children have gone to him for over 17 years.

I second the recommendation for Dr Dohar, who treated my teen daughter. I also highly recommend Dr. Mandel in the same practice, who did surgeries on my toddler nephew (adenoids, tonsils, tubes); I was there for almost every visit and was very impressed with him as well. Good luck!

We just recently took our 10 month old to Gottleib - he's on Forbes in Oakland. I think he also sees patients in the South Hills but I'm not positive. His practice comes highly recommended by everyone I know. He did tubes for our 10 month old and it worked out great so far.

Sometimes, if the doctor is affiliated with UPMC, they are obligated to get you a first appointment within a week or two. The bigger issue is usually trying to get a follow up...
