Endometrial Polyps

Some of you may remember me...I recently had my second "missed" miscarriage. Well, I went to the doctor today and was told I have uterine polyps that need to be removed. She's thinking it could be the source of my problems! However, I'm now freaked out about having yet another surgery. Any thoughts or advice from those of you that have been through this?? I really appreciate it! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi I.-

My heart goes out to you. My situation is a bit different then yours but I too have had miscarriages and it is sooo hard. I had three miscarriages, and then had my daughter, then another miscarriage, and then my son. They put me on Progesterine suppositories for my pregnancy with my son and I do have my healthy boy. But I have always had horrible cramps with my periods and last year they got so bad that walking was hard. They looked and found that I had uterine polyps and they probably were causing the bad cramps, and could have helped cause the miscarriages. My first 2 miscarriages were during the implantation stage and the eggs can't plant if the polyps are there. Anyway, I had the surgery last year and my period cramps are pretty much gone or manageable. The surgery was a out-patient procedure going through the vagina, and I think it took about 3 or 4 days of recovery. Well worth it because I really do feel better!!

Good luck to you, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I would try acupuncture and perhaps a change of diet. I have no idea what your diet is like, but a move towards a more vegetarian diet might help. Our meats are pumped full of hormones and antibiotics and they do affect our health. If you drink milk, stop or at the very least commit to organic. Milk is not all it is cracked up to be. Dump and products that include parabens or sodium laurel sufate. That would be most of your shampoos, conditioners, lotions. Avalon products are free of them and are available at Trader Joes.
Here's a link to a short article on the dangers. There's plenty more info out there. Do a digestive cleanse that includes clay. Clay will pull toxins out of your digestive system that would otherwise sit there. I use products from the Natural Botanical Pharamcy in Marina del Rey. You can find them on line at herbdoc.com

Good Afternoon I.,

Have you looked into Naturopathic Medicine? Paricularly, something else being the cause of you not being able to carry a child to full term. Many times what we think may be the problem isn't. You may want to go to Amazon.com and purchase the book Say Goodbye to Illness by Dr. Devi Nambudripad. Also, you may want to log onto NAET.com and look into having an NAET allergist run tests on you to determin if allergies could be causing some of the feminine problems you are having. I know that you wrote you have polups but what's causing the polups? Keep looking.

NAET.com is a group of allergists who ELIMINATE allergies. And as far as I know, they are the only ones who do this. And after reading Say Goodbye To Illenss, I found out that many physical problems we have including miscarriages are due to untreated allergies.

If you have any questions about NAET, I can answer them ____@____.com Well.

Hi I.: I didn't have your exact problem, but had one miscarriage between my first two, but initially, I couldn't even get pregnant...and started to get worried...well, I started to have pain "down there" and it wasn't getting any better, so they checked it out with ultrasound and found cysts and adhesions (for some unknown reason...doctors didn't know why)...but they said I needed to get them taken out and the adhesions removed, so since I wasn't getting pg I was willing for whatever it took. Went in for the surgery and while I was in, they did a D&C to completely clean things up in there. I bled heavily for 14 days afterward (non-stop). But, I got pg immediately and had no problems, but the cysts had to come out of there. And yes, I grew some more later on...and a large one had to be removed (some years later)...but once out, I got pg and had twins...so, whatever it takes to keep things cleared out "down there" is probably necessary for you to HOLD-ON to your pregnancy. Good luck for your future. A miscarriage is a real heartache, but I feel it's God's way of taking care of an imperfect fetus and once you get things taken care of you'll be on your way to a beautiful baby.

I. - I've had them removed a couple of times in preparation for IVF cycles....this after doing four cycles and THEN finding out that I had the polyps. One doctor said they act like an IUD to prevent implantation of the embryo. Certainly not what I wanted when I was paying so much to try and get pregnant.

The procedure was painless. It was done under conscious sedation, or "twilight sleep." The first time I had it done we were at an out of town clinic and flew home that same afternoon. I didn't have any unusual cramping or any other problems. Definitely get it done if you don't want to continue with recurrent miscarriages. It really is an easy procedure...no incisions, since it's done vaginally.

Good luck to you.

Hello I.!
Some years ago I became pregnant and at a mo. and a half had excruciating pains. dr told me he had to remove the product, because the uterus could not expand to accomodate the fetus growing in,he said, my uterus could break.I would probably have to have my uterus removed. I did not wanted it out of me, because I was not sure if I wanted more children then. Years later I decided not to have more children and I started on the pill.
3yrs later I had a rotine exam and my uterus was as clean as a whistle. I could safely become pregnant but I tought of me being to old for that. Iregret not having that child, even if I already had 3.
Good luck to you!
BE patient, domt give up ask your dr. what treatments are availabl. Give it "rest time" between miscarriages to make your womb strong.Follow your doctor's advise and if not happy with him then find another doctor.
