Endometrial Ablation Anyone?

My Gyn recommended an endometrial ablation for my increasingly painful and lengthy periods. I am 47 and not having any (more) kids so that is not an issue! Has anyone had one? What was it like and did it do what you expected it to?

What can I do next?

I had the NovaSure procedure a little over three years ago (at 42). Fantastic results, no period since then. I had it done on a Thursday and was back seeing clients on Monday.

Had that done four months ago. I still get a period but it's very short and I barely bleed. I HIGHLY recommend it!

I was back in business a few hours after I got home. Sleep was my friend but I stroked it for another day just because...

Do a search on this. This question gets asked a LOT.

I had one and my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. I had periods from hell - every two weeks instead of every month, bleeding through my clothes every hour, cramps that doubled me over, PMS that made people ask if someone had dropped a house on my sister. After the EA, nothing. No bleeding, no cramping, no PMS.

I had an option for this procedure but my Dr. told me it does not take for everyone. I was DONE with all the procedures so I opted for a complete hysterectomy and it was the best decision I ever made.

That said, my SIL opted for the EA and has had no regrets.

I had one BEFORE I had my hysterectomy...it worked for me for about 18 months - no cycles - it was great! then one day I could've SWORN i was pregnant and going into labor...this was right after Thanksgiving last year - went back to the Dr and we scheduled my hysterectomy for Feb...

If you don't have to have a hysterectomy - I would do it. It was a same day procedure for me and about 4 days recovery time. I also had my tubes tied then too.

GOOD LUCK!!

I know someone who had it done and she swore by it. She was back to work the next day (I believe).

I wasn't a candidate for it....weird shaped uterus, blah, blah, blah.

Had a laproscopic hysterectomy 3 weeks ago today. Was back in action within a few days. Felt back to self at 2 weeks out. If I didn't get this cold this week, I would have been back to 100%. Best decision EVER!

Best of luck with your decision....but do something. It is worth it!
