Hi,
I am having an endometrial ablation in 2 weeks. This after trying everything and not being successful in heavy painful periods since my c-section/tubal. I would love to hear from anyone that has been through this procedure. I have heard from some of you from a previous post and I am so greatful! There are some really sweet and cool ladies on this site and thank you for taking the time to care!
Christina

Hi Christina,
I just had an endometrial ablasion in December of 2007 and it was the best thing that i could have ever done. I have had the worst time with periods most of my life and I had a tubal in 2003 and it just seemed to get worse. Then they said I had a really thick endometrial lining and thought I would have to get a hysterectomy. Well I saw Dr Vicknicki and he did all kinds of test and found that I had a polyp also. they removed that and then a month later I had an ablasion. It was the best choice that I ever made and I have not had a period since then. Good luck

I had to have a hysterectomy last summer. The website www.hystersisters.com is a great resource for women's health issues. My friend had the ablation a few months ago and said it worked wonders for her. Good luck. I'm sure you will do great.

Hi Christina, I had this procedure done 2 years ago. The surgery itself was a breeze, no cramping or anything afterwards. I still get a period each month, but it is dramatically better. It's alittle better than the kind of period I would get before if I was on birth control pills. It was definately worth having done, I just wish I could've been one of the super lucky ones and have no bleeding at all anymore! Good luck!

Hi Christina,
I had the endometrial ablation on March 21st of this year. It was the best decision I made. I also tried everything and continued to suffer with very heavy bleeding. Since then I have not had a period and feel great. The procedure and recovery was quick and pain free. Just don't lift anything to heavy for a few days. Good Luck to you!
Blessings

I had the procedure done due to heavy bleeding and frequest bleeding. The doctor was up front with me about all the risks and complications.
I came though it with flying colors. I woke up with some cramping but had more problems from the anesthesia. I wore a pad for a few days. I mowed my yard the day after the surgery!!
I haven't had a period since the procedure and that was 3 years ago. I still get the PMS and sore breasts, but no cramping or bleeding.
To me it was a miracle procedure.

I am a 47 year old stay at home mom, 4 years ago I had the endometrial ablation operation and I had alot of success with it. I had similar problem like you are experiencing, heavy period, bleeding for weeks and weeks at a time. I was 43 at the time of my surgery and have not had my period since then, the only thing with this is that I have started to go through the change of life and not getting my period is normal for my age but with you only being 38 I would ask the doctor about this because you may still want more babies and I dont know if this would interfere with that. I wish you all the luck with the surgery and stay healthy. One more thing, you are so right about babies are miracle sent from heaven so please check with your doctor before you have your surgery.

I had it done just this past April and I tell you it has been the best thing I have ever decided to do! My periods are so much ligher, they still last between 8 and 10 days, but I can now get by with only wearing a liner through out the whole time. I am not always so out of energy now that I have had it done. It has just been great! I do however notice that sometimes sex is a little painful, but I have always been super sensitive there, so I dont know if the ablation had anything to do with that, or if its just because thats the way my body is.

Dont worry hun, the proceedure is super quick! I did have a lot of pain when I first woke up after having it done, but they gave me some meds to help with that, and wrote me a prescription for it for the few days following. However, I never needed to take them after I got home. I found that just laying down relaxing for a few days and keeping a heating pad on my belly helped out a great deal!

Hi Christina - not to worry! I had it done 18 months ago and it has been wonderful. I had been on pills to control the bleeding but they stopped working. After about 6 months I had some bleeding and every couple months I have that same 'period' where the total bleeding is less than I had in an hour before. You will feel much better. Who is doing it? Let me know how you do.
