Endometreosis Probs!!

I would highly recommend Dr. Robert Bender if you are anywhere near west Plano. He is located in the medical bldg right next to Plano Medical Center. He is a wonderful, compassionate dr. and he will talk to you straight about your "quality of life". He treated me for endo and other issues and I have been symptom free now for over 9 years! He has been my dr. for almost 20 years and I trust him with anything - I have referred several friends to him and they have all been very pleased with his treatment protocols and professionalism. The best part for me is that he no longer does the ob stuff, so you don't have to sit in a waiting room with pregnant women and second guess your decisions! Best of luck! L.

I was only able to control it on BC pills, but since we were TTC, it just went out of control within a year of being off the pill, which then required the lap and quickly once discovered the extent.

I have been officially diagnosed. I had to have treatment to be able to have children. I had laparoscopic surgery (day surgery) and six months of hormone therapy. Now my endometriosis was about as bad as you could get, yours may not be as bad and need all that.

I went from having cramps as bad as transitional labor to only needing Ibuprofen once or twice during my period. It's been 14 years since I was treated, with no problems AND a beautiful daughter.

Talk to your OB-GYN. I know depending on how bad your endometriosis is frequently birth control pills are prescribed with no surgery.

I had stage 4 endometreosis and they didn't know it. I had a steal cage put in my back and then a complete historectomy at the same time. The doctor who did my hist. said that he has never seen anything like it in all his years of practice. He had to take everything and now I am on hormones. I am 300% better. It is the best thing I ever did. I am a singlemom of a 13 (in 10 days) year old boy. He is all I need and I loved Dr. Gregory Chapman in Presby Dallas (The Perot Building) I have sent several of my friends and they all stayed with him, after 1 visit. Good luck with your decision. Each person has to decide for themselves and their family, but I highly recomend him.

I have endometriosis as well. I had been dealing with the problem every sincce I was in hs and no one could help me. Finally at the age of 27, I visited Dr. Julie Thomas and she diagnosised me on the spot. She gave me several options, such as hormones, etc. I am too young to be going through all that so I opted for the laprascopic surgery that took 45 min and a couple of days to heal w/ no scarring. I am much better not 100%, though because some of the cells were lining the outside of my uterus and burningthose would have been to risky considering i want more children. So visit her. I have been dealing with endometriosis for 16 years, have had seven sugeries and gone through the medically induced menopause to try to stop it and even after two children, it still came back. My advise to you, if you are done having kids, is to have your uterus removed. You won't have the endometriosis any longer and you will still have your ovaries. Best of both worlds. After one more baby this is what I am going to do. You WILL get a lot of differing advise. Do some research and see what looks best for you. I would think long and hard before going the Lupron or heavy hormone therapy route. They are very difficult to deal with and Lupron is one hell I wouldn't wish on anyone. You are in my prayers and I can certainly sympathize. Good luck!

I had endo also and had pain almost constant for as long as I can remember (except when I was pregnant). Once we were done having kids my dr. recommended a complete hysterectomy. It was the BEST thing I've ever done!! I feel so much better and my energy level and outlook is so much better. My doctor talked about other options, but after looking at the whole picture we decided on the hysterectomy and I'm so glad we did. I ended up having endo in the walls of my uterus, which meant that I wouldn't have had any relief until after menopause if we tried other options.

My doctor, Dr Alvin Gebert, was the first doctor to diagnose my endo (after 2 other dr's wrote off the pain) did my first lap and as did my hysterectomy with a "pelvic reconstruction". He did a great job with everything and I'm blessed that he took me seriously!!

I have it. Had the diagnosis and laparoscopy last year for it. I don't know of the best docs, but I do have one suggestion- Yaz. I've had so much horrible pain from the endo and tried pretty much everything, next to getting the hystero. I got on Yaz, the birth control, back in January and it took a few months for it to finally work itself out, but I am currently mostly pain-free. I haven't been pain free since I was 19. I don't bleed or have cramps or anything. It is like a wonder drug for me. Now, everyone is different to each drug and I did have some weight gain, but I hear you usually have weight gain with a hysterectomy, anyway. I tried at least a handful of different bc, so I know the Yaz works for me. One thing is, mine was so bad that the doc (actually 2 of em) suggested I stay on the bc continuously (not have a period or a break from the active pills). This didn't work for me- I had bad rage events when I did that. Now I just take the active and inactive pills, but no bleeding- the doc says thats normal for Yaz.

If you are opposed to surgery, try a change in diet. I know Herbalife has helped several of my friends with endometriosis by improving their protein intake and overall eating habits. Tang Kuei is a wonerful supplement to aid too!

My doc thought I had endemetreosis, but then through laproscopic surgery, found it was actually problems with cyts growing on my ovary's. He is an absolutely wonderful OB/GYN. I have often joked that if he moved out of state, I would have to follow him, as I just could not imagine going to everyone else. My left ovary was removed before I could get pregnant with my first child. Then, when I thought I was going to lose the second ovary, my doc tried and tried to keep it for me until I had my second child. He will do what is best for you and your family, no questions asked.
