Endocrinologist Needed

About a year ago I was diagnosed with hypothyrodisim....TSH was 92. My PCP did the normal monthly bloodwork until my levels were in normal range and put me on Synthroid. I never found a specialist or really did any research about thyroidism because I figured once my levels were normal I'd feel fantastic. Yes, I feel so much better than what I did before and lost about 15 pounds (didn't have much to loose) but I'm starting to realize that there is much more involved. For example, I feel like I can't eat anything without bloating up or gaining weight. Now my hair is starting to fall out again and I'm feeling like my anxiety level is going back up. I could call my PCP but frankly I want to skip her completely and go to a specialist or someone who can tell me more about this disease rather than give me more drugs.

Does anyone know of someone that can help????

What can I do next?

Dr. Barry Wayler in Norwood is good. He is in the Guild Building across from Norwood Hospital.

You are experiencing what most of us with hypothyroidism experience - some improvement but so many other issues including sleep problems, hair loss, and weight gain. And yes, anxiety. I understand you need more help than your PCP can provide, but if you go to an endocrinologist, don't you think you can expect to get more drugs? Would you consider learning more about the role nutrition plays in your immune system? I've stopped my hair loss, improved my sleep, reduced my depression (including my antidepressant meds) and increased my energy. I still take my thyroid med but I don't have all the side effects. I'm doing what the top food scientists in the country recommend. I've also stopped getting colds, flus, bouts of bronchitis and much more. If you'd like to get together with a bunch of people who've done the same thing, I can give you some dates and some locations in the area.

I would highly suggest Dr. Balasubramanian. She works at the Foxboro Caritas & she really knows her stuff. She was suggested to me by another doctor. I had her for years until I moved away. She is extremely thorough with everything she does.

You should connect with the Joslin Diabetes Center. The main office is in Boston, but there is a satellite office in Needham (I used to work there before kids!) I know you don't have diabetes but the doctors there are endocrinologists and see patients for thyroid issues too. It's great there and you don't have to drive all the way into Boston. The doctor's name there is Dr. William Sullivan. There is a new female doctor there now too, but I don't know here name.
