End of the Yr Gift for Son's Preschool Teachers Aren't Going to Be Here on Time?

I had ordered a scrapbook off of Shutterfly with some pictures throughout the yr from my son's class with notes of Thank yous throughout and phrases/statements he told me about his days at preschool (I also plan on including a $5-$10 gift card). I was so excited to give it to them, and I totally selected the wrong shipping method. I misread how the processing works and the shipping for that particular item worked! So ultimately it looks like maybe one of the books might be here on time. I don't know why they shipped them separately but they did.

Now I'm confused on what to do. Do I just tell them I'm so sorry the gift my son wanted to give them isn't going to be here on time and ask for their mailing address? I do have one of his teacher's mailing address already from a thank you card from Christmas. Should I bring the one I do get on time, give to the one teacher I don't have the mailing address for so they can see it together and explain once the other book comes I will mail it to her. I would like to have physically handed it to them and not just mail it to them, but I am afraid that I've missed that window. There is a chance the 2nd book would show up on Fri. (my son's last day is Thurs) should I hold out on both and then hope they are both working on Fri.? Drop it off at the Directors office (even tho' I really didn't get her a gift)? I'm so disappointed, any thoughts?

TIA

OMG, they are going to be excited you did ANYTHING so possibly being a little late won't matter.

Out of 36 kids, I was the ONLY one that did ANYTHING for 'teacher appreciation week.' Not a card, dead flower, old piece of candy from ANYONE. I felt SO BAD FOR THEM. Those teachers bust their butts with those 3-4 year olds.

You may get the order sooner than you think. The mail moves pretty fast lately so you MAY luck out!

Good luck and well done!

You are so sweet!

I think you should just play it safe and ask for both teacher's addresses (just in case the one you have an address for has moved); explain that you have something for them and really wanted to give it to them personally, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'd also ask if they will be back in the next few days to close down their classroom, too. They might set it all to rest or pack up for the time their school is closed, but if they are coming back to pack up, you might be able to drop by and do it in person.

Your son's teachers are lucky to have you as a parent. What a lovely and thoughtful gift.

Damn Shutterfly! They drove me nuts at Christmas! Tell the situation now-and get a forwarding address! Aren't you sweet!

Totally a fab idea! I make books all the time and I'll have to keep this in mind for when my kids get older! You're sweet!

I think I'd do what you described. They are going to be thrilled and will totally understand it's not on time. I realize it's disappointing, especially probably for your son, but yes, I'd take the one book so they can ooh and aah over it together and show it off and get an address for the other.

It's possible that one of them might be working a summer program too, so just explain it...it will work out and they will love it!

What a sweet idea for a gift! I love it. Is it possible that they'll still be at school for a few days, breaking down their room(s) for summer? I think you should give the book to the first teacher and tell the second one there was a shipping error and it's on the way. Ask for her address. She'll have something to look forward to.

Why don't you call the director's office and ask if the teaching staff will be at the school working after the last day of school, and for how many days? You can let them (the director's office) know that you ordered something personalized that hasn't arrived yet, and are concerned about being able to deliver it to them. They will know if you can personally deliver the albums to the teachers at the school and what the proper protocol for doing so would be.

They are going to love them..

Yes, you could give them a card and say to expect the gifts to be delivered very soon and get their addresses and phone numbers in case you want to hand deliver them.
