I'm taking my family and a friend out to the pumpkin patch for my son's 2nd birthday, just a small event, but we want to be able to have a picnic. Only thing is, I don't want just the same old meat and cheese sandwiches I slop together, and chips? Ug. I want something happy and interesting that doesn't require heating up so we can enjoy our day and it still feel nice and a little festive. I can't think of anything but need to have it prepared by midnight tonight so we can go to church, then straight on to the pumpkin patch and picnic. Please, any happy ideas would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

You could take like an antipasto lunch with cold cuts arranged in a nice way, like salami, different cheeses withy sliced bagette instead of bread, you get the picture. Brie and crackers then add grapes and Target has a really great sparkling italian soda, you get the feeling you're drinking like champagne, then you could bring chocolate covered strawberries. Its all in the presentation, I bet the walmart deli would give you a few of their to go trays, the black ones with lids. good luck.

what about sandwiches cut with pumpkin or leaf cookie cutters? Fruit kabobs(apples, bananas, pinapple, strawberries on a skewer), cheese and crackers, or you could pick up pizza or chicken on your way out to the farm-not the healthiest but could be fun. Get some fun plates and napkins and just have fun. HTH

This will be too late to help this time, but we like cut up fruit and fruit dip. Veggies and veggie dip. Cheese, turkey and crackers. Hard-boiled eggs.
