Electronic Invitations

No one's fault but my own and my busy life I lapsed and didn't get plans for my daughter's 2nd birthday party completed until 2 weeks before the date of the party. Not thinking that I would have time to send out physical invitations to those we were hoping to invite my husband suggested that we just send electronic invitations through email. I mean we communicate, largely, by electronic means anyway and "talk via text, email, and social networks more than actual conversation so why not! I did hesitate on doing this but in the end went forward and sent out the invitation by email. I did request an RSVP on the invitation and most of the people that we invited are close family and friends. But sadly, after 5 days, I only have 2 RSVP's. I do plan on contacting the other people if I don't hear back from anyone else by the weekend so I can have a yes/no and plan food and such. How successful have your e-invitations been? I used email addresses that I knew to be current and the program actually lets you see who has viewed the invite and only 6 our of 18 people have even viewed the invitation. Do e-invitations really get the job done? I won't be repeating this for my other daughter's birthday if I don't get much more response.

What can I do next?

I've used it and had good luck. However, sometimes if you use a program like evite, the email will get put into the receivers spam folder. You might want to send an email from your email account saying that you sent out an evite, not sure if they received it, but here are the details about the party.

Interesting, ususally you will recieve a ton on RSVP's.. can you tell on the evite if the people have even read it? Usually you can tell on your page.

resend it and say something like. "Baby Mary is so excited about her party, hope you will be attending, plaase RSVP! "

Maybe some of them have never seen one or used an online invite..

Also could be a lot of family, just think Oh they know we will be there. Typical..

they have always worked well for me - I would wait til' the weekend and see what happens - some people may have gotten the invite in their junk folder??? I would call just to make sure that they got it!

I usually use evite or email invitations. I didn't for my wedding because most of my older family members are still old school. I always say RSVP by *this date* via text, email or phone.

I have gotten them and understand that they are more convenient, but if the moms hadn't told me that they were there I never would have opened them. I dont; check email everyday, in fact sometimes I dont' check it for a week at at time. So if someone were to send an evite to a party in a couple days I'd never see it.

If I were you I would make some calls. Probably just call your mother or MIL and ask them whose coming. That would work in my family.

These are actually the new "green" way to invite. I use them bc it's cheaper then making and putting stamps on 40 invites. I use smilebox.com on this website it sends an email with the info and then you can click to open it and see the actual invitation. I found out recently that if you have a smart phone and get your emails this way then you don't have to open it to view the details. If it isn't opened then it will not show that they have viewed it. My son just had his 3rd bday party and I was wondering why my MIL hadn't looked at the invite yet, my hubby called her and she said she had viewed it from her iphone yet it didn't show her viewing it on the webpage. On any invitation email or mail RSVP's are rare these days. A week or two before the party I always send out a mass text asking everyone to let me know so I can have a head count.
