Electronic Cigarette as a Gift

Does anyone have any experience with the electronic cigarette and quitting smoking? I am thinking of getting it for my sister as a Christmas gift but don’t want to spend that much money if it isn’t going to help her. She tried and failed with Chantix (bad side effects), the patch, cold turkey and hypnosis. She smokes a ridiculous amount a day and it is causing her health problems already at 37. If you have had any luck is one brand better then the other? Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the advice. I read Kathy's response and my heart breaks for you. Smoking is really a tough addiction to kick and trust me I know addiction. I smoked for 14 years before quitting for a full year and then starting again for 2 more. Finally I think I've got it under control. For me I allow myself the occasional slip when stress really dictates the need. (not great I know but it's very rare and in my mind if I say I allow it I find I don't need it) I kicked all my other habits way before smoking and NA helped with everything but tobacco. (Yet the govt. calls the other drugs the bad ones.) I've been clean for 13 years but smoke free for only 7. I spoke to my sister, told her what I was thinking and flat out asked her if she was interested. She said no so what can I do but respect her decision. While I wish she would at least try to quit she is almost 40 and set in her ways so I can't do anything more then encourage her to consider quitting. Now I have to find her something else for the holiday I guess. Ugh I hate shopping ;) thanks as always!

My husband did it for a few months and did not smoke, he went back to smoking but 3 days ago switched back to vape again. I have mixed reviews on it, i quit cold turkey 3 years ago and i will not try the electronic cigg for that reason. it successfully cut him down to much less, but also he did not quit.

My only advice is to make sure you get the one that looks and feels the closest to an actual cigarette...it has to feel the same, it cant be one of those huge things that looks like a pen.

We bought one for about $100 called Blu. It was heavy, a pain, and didn't help us at all.

get her the 3x one. I have tried them and dont get enough nicotine off of it. but I got them when they were new and now they have more powerful ones. if you do get it get her the drops to refill the filters cause she can make it stronger. if you use the filters by the manufacturer it varies how much nicotine you get out of it. sometimes it is strong and sometimes its weak. with the drops she can control the amount of it she gets.. if it was me I would get the electronic with the drops and nicotine patches also. that way she gets enough nicotine and it gives her something to do with her hands which is the hardest part to break. the suckers dont work they make your stomach hurt after so many of them. I have tried everything and this is the only thing that might work on me. the electronic alone wasnt enough
