Electronic Calendar / Address Book

I currently have a "dumb phone" (as opposed to a "smart phone" lol). I am not looking to upgrade to a smart phone yet and pay the fees. I don't think I would use it enough at this point. I am looking for an electronic calendar and address book. I currently use my cell phone's calendar, but it is limited. I would something I can carry in my purse that I can keep track of my business and kids' activities, addresses to my appointments, and other details about the appointments. My phone has a great phone / address book but would like this device to hold some of that information too. I don't know what devices are currently available besides a smart phone. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I'm sorry for not answering your question, but with your first sentence I thought this might make you laugh. We don't have smart phones, either, but you know how you see at the bottom of an email "sent from my iphone" or "sent from my blackberry" or whatever? Well, my husband said he's going to start signing his emails "sent from my desktop" or something silly like that. It cracks me up! :) Hope you have a blessed unelectronic day! :)

I'm on my 2nd iPod Touch (just got the latest one for Christmas) and they are fabulous! It will do everything you want, and you would also have wi-fi connectivity in your own home if you have a wireless router and you can use the wi-fi out in bookstores and restaurants as well. Plus, you can download tons of free or cheap apps to do just about anything else you want, from games to other organizational things. They cost around $200 for an 8 GB one, which is what I always get. Most days I do a quick e-mail check on my iPod Touch and don't even turn on my computer. And they are VERY lightweight and slim now. If you do decide to get one, be sure to get a hard case, not a silicone case. I bought an $8 hard case for my old one and the iPod Touch has survived numerous drops without harm. Good luck!

Yeah, cell phones and pocket PC's have been merging and I never cared for the trend.
I don't like being forced into using a smart phone either but getting one and not enabling a data plan might be the way to go.
I still have (and use) my Dell Axim x51v and it's a dinosaur but I love it.
I'm going to be lost when it eventually dies.
I'll have to migrate to something newer eventually.
I think I'll have to see what my favorite apps run on and then choose a new one based on that.

I'd go iPod touch if you don't want a smartphone. PDAs are becoming obsolete. (Already are, IMO)

I used to live and die by my PDA. A couple years ago it started to die so I needed to replace it. I looked everywhere for another PDA that wasn't a smartphone and the couple I did find online were terrible and not worth it. They were also phasing them out at that point. I am doubtful you can find them 2 years later.
In the end I ended up getting an iPhone and it is the best thing I could have gotten! At first I was like what on earth am I going to do with all these bells and whistles but now I have no idea how I got by without one.
It was nice to not have both the phone and a PDA in my purse. I was also able to take the iPod out as it does that too. I admit I still carry around my good camera because the camera isn't the best, although the 4G camera is a huge improvement over my 3G. I use it for odd random pictures but I use the good camera for important things. The mapping is linked to the address book so it only takes a click to use the GPS to get from here to there. We stopped having to carry the GPS in the car too because of my phone. I also use it to look up answers to the kids' weird questions when we're out. We used it on a trip to identify the weirdest looking bird just recently :)

Before they started requireing you to hold the data plan i did just what you are talking about. i was tired of everything in my purse. then they made me get a data plan inorder to keep my phone. i have the lowest data plan and it is nice to be able to check the weather and my email. i have used the gps a few times as well as looking something up. I could do without it but it does come in handy. especially when i put something on my phone calander i have it email it home and put it on my calander on the computer then i have it there as well and when my husband links his phone up to the computer it puts the appointment on his phone. Then he can't say well you didn't tell me :) hope this helps
