My almost five year old son earns 15 minutes of computer time a day. He has recently lost interest in the free web version of Starfall. He's tried out PBS Kids and although he has found games he loves, the ones he gravitates toward have limited educational value. His academic skills are fairly typical for his age - knows all his letters and sounds, can identify numbers to 20. He seems very interested in adventure/maze games - those that mirror video games that involve a quest. Does anyone have recommendations of EDUCATIONAL games they have purchased and/or websites their young child access?
Jump start has everything from pre-school all through the elementary grades. You can also sign up for an on-line subscription.
I don't know if it is still made, but i used to LOVE playing Spelling Jungle!! Google it, it was an awesome spelling game on the computer :)
Try funbrain.com it has a lot of great games for all subject and grade levels. It was a safe site I let my students use all the time when I was a teacher. If you have an iphone, epad, ipad or itouch then try the kindertown app. It is an app you can download that has been reviewed and recommended by teachers for its educational value. Good luck!
