Hello! I have heard of computer games to teach counting, colors, letters, etc to toddlers but can't find what I am looking for. Supposed to come with simple sort of mouse that young hands can navigate. Anyone have something like this they like? Looking for a brand or recommendation. Thanks!!
Jennifer

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the tips! We are trying Reader Rabbit as it got good reviews online. As for not letting toddlers on the computer...well I will use anything and anyway I can get my baby interested in learning!

We have this - it is called ClickStart by Leapster. My DD loves it. Comes with a few games preloaded and then you can buy the extra cartiridges. The mouse is really easy to use and she got the hang of it within a day. Would recommend it.

Hi Jennifer,

Sorry for the late response, but I just wanted to put in my 2 cents. We have this for my son and he absolutely loves it: http://www.amazon.com/VTech-Little-Einsteins-Laptop/dp/B0...
I really feel that this toy is the reason that he recognizes all his letters and is learning to count and recognize bigger numbers.
It's also a great toy for long car rides, restaurants, doctor's waiting rooms, etc. Good luck!

Call me old fashioned, but toddlers dont need to be on the computer. They should learn these things from you teaching them in everyday situations and from you reading books to them.

Look for Reader Rabbit. Those are fun. I found Garfield computer math games at the dollar store once. Also, if you don't mind letting your child online, go to starfall.com. It's a free site base on alphabet recognition and even goes into early reading. It's a lot of fun. There are extra books & toys you can buy to accompany it but it's not necessary. My kids LOVE that site and has spent lots of happy times there over the last few years. I told my daughters K teacher about it. She really liked the idea and now she has the class go there once a week. Other teachers are picking up on it too; both of my boys brought home their homework list this week including 20 min at Starfall. :)

Sprout Online and PBS Kids both have free, easy games and activities on their websites.

My sons love the free games on pbskids.org. They especially love the Dr. Seuss games and the Curious George games. Sorry, not what you're looking for, but something to try in the meantime!

You can get the JumpStart games at Walmart very cheap. Also, look at pbskids.org, disney online, stuff like that.

I like Zoodles. (google it) of course this a program that you download to your computer and then has MASSIVE safety locks making it so the child can't get out of it. (In fact I have trouble getting out sometimes.) It is 100% free and has videos, games and art your child can do all on the PC.
