She makes edgy amazing hair and loves color! Meet her and you will know she is the one!
So I've been in the Dallas area for 6 months and have yet to find a hair stylist I like. I'm looking for a stylist that's willing to go outside the box on color. I tried one girl and loved the way she cut hair but was floored when she actually told me that blond streaks was too high maintenance for a SAHM??? I moved from Seattle and I know people are a bit more conservative here in fashion but Really???? I tend to stay pretty conservative on cuts so I like to go pretty drastic on color. I would love to do purple highlights but need to find a stylist willing to do something like that. Does anyone know of a salon or stylist that is a bit more willing to go beyond the typical carmel highlights??? Im willing to do pretty much anywhere in the DFW area. Thanks in advance!

Hi J.,
Oh how I know your blues. It took me 5 years after first moving to Dallas to find a hair stylist I love.
Have I got the colorist for you. Her name is Erica Johnson ###-###-####). She is young and fabulous. She colors her own hair so many fun colors. Not only is she great at what she does, she is sweet and funny, too.
She works in a salon suite building, so she has her own suite. She only does color, but, a few suites down the hall is Charles Nguyen ###-###-####) who cuts my hair. He does it all, with a lot of detail. I usually just tell him to do what he wants and always end up with compliments.
The two of them are really good at working with each other to get a client in to do both one right after the other.
They are located near Preston and 121.
Good luck!
Heath Hair & Day Spa in Heath, it's near Rockwall. They have awesome stylists. I use Tammy so I highly recommend her but pretty much anyone there will do a great job & go beyond the box. :)
An acquaintance of mine from high school is a hairstylist and does pretty edgy things and color. Her name is Candi Blanchard and she is at Studio 10 Salon in Mesquite.
I would recommend you find an Asian boutique. They love to play with color. Believe me, I just had my hair colored pink, by accident though, it was a miscommunication.
Von Anthony Salon. They are creative and know what they are doing.
It's in Frisco. ###-###-####
Purple highlights sound fun! Good luck.
Whenever I've gone to a Toni and Guy, the hairstylist have the craziest colors. (Well done crazy colors!) You might try one near you.
Jenny Walters at Coco Black Salon in Flower Mound is awesome! She owns the salon, and it's definitely on the edgier side :-)
Do you have a cosmetology school near you?
They have to be trained in different coloring techniques so it might be worth checking out. They actually appreciate people who are willing to go outside the box.
Many, many people go to our local beauty school because the students get their training and hours and it's also less expensive.
It's worth a try.
This place is fantastic. Check then out at

Try to find a Tony Cao salon near you. I know they have one in Frisco and one in Southlake. I used to go to the one in Frisco, and it was pretty "edgy".
Check out the Evelyn Kershaw salon in Plano (Parker & Preston) and ask for Abbie. She's great at going outside the box!

For a hair stylist to say that would make me think that she is just to lazy to do it. On that note to lazy to dye my hair means that she is to lazy to cut my hair right.
Ask a mom at the store who's hair you like where she goes...
