My daughter is 2 months old and just recently started to develop a rash all over the place. We have her 2 month appt on Tuesday but I feel like she is suffering and want to do all that I can to help her out. She had/has a pretty good case of cradle cap that doesnt seem all that bad now that we have tackled it as best we can but a few days ago she started to get really Really dry skin on her face (which I originally thought was just her cradle cap coming out to a bit of her skin on her face) But now that it is on her body I know thats not it. She has it really bad on her face and the crease of both her arms and legs and there is quite a rash on her stomach. She also has really rough skin on her wrists and basically all over her arms and legs. Really the only place that her skin looks and feels normal is her back. Ive tried everything and I mean everything and nothing seems to provide any relief.
PLease if you have any ideas or home remedies I am all for the suggestions at this point
Thank you in advance

I never did get a handle on my daughter eczema. However when we weened her off formula and cows milk at two-years-old, it resolved on its own. She can drink some cows milk without developing it now. But looking back I can see that when BF failed and we went to formula thats about the time she developed eczema and it went away around weaning time. Lotions of this brand and that, warm not hot baths....yada yada, none of it worked until her diet changed.

Make sure you are not using any soap on her skin. I'd try mineral oil. Just massage it into the affected area. make sure you put her in lightweight jammies that you dont care if they get stained. I would also suggest calling an advice nurse. You want to make sure that the skin doesnt develop a yeast issue. Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon. Hang in there Mamma!

Go to the healthfood store and get some coconut oil, it works wonders.
In the meantime, trust me, babies go through some skin sloughing sometimes, hey--they were in a bag of water for 9 mos.
Hopefully your little one is not suffering from eczema and you are over reacting. Definitely a skin allergy to detergent or fabric softener, lotion, etc may be the problem and I hope she's just got a temporary rash. Weird things happen the first 6 mos, but keeping your wellbaby care appts are necessary just so all of this is logged and paid attention to.
Get some natural coconut oil tho, honestly. It works well on rashes and dry skin.

My son had a rash like that when he was about the same age. Our doctor recommended Eucurin (I can't remember the spelling) lotion. It's really thick and yucky but it helped. We also switched to Tide Free for his laundry.

Are you sure it's ezcema? My son has baby ezcema (according to his doctor, I just thought it was dry skin) and it's never been a rash like you describe. His is always just really dry rough spots. His doctor recommended aquafor, which has worked wonders for us. I'd call the doctor and bring her in to make sure that's what it is before you start trying to put things on it. Good luck!

You might consider taking baby to an allergist. My son had just what you are describing, and he ended up with an egg allergy. I was strictly nursing at the time, and as soon as I took all eggs and products made with eggs out of my diet, his skin started to clear up. He also got much less cranky! In the meantime, you can try to give her a short bleach bath (a few capfuls of bleach in a baby tub, or 1/4 cup in a regular tub) - think swimming pool! The bleach kills bacteria living in those open sores and creases, and her skin will look much healthier. I also use the Baby Aquaphor ointment. NO lotion will cure the eczema - try to find what is triggering the reaction. Good luck!

My son had really bad excema at this age. So bad his little face was so red. Hopefully your daughter doesn't have excema because it is can be a precursor to food allergies. Anyway it tends to be worse when they are younger and then it comes and goes as time goes on. Definitely use nothing with scent as far as soaps, laundry detergent, etc. Skip all fabric softener because it makes it worse. Make sure her clothes are made from a soft natural fabric, 100% cotton. We used any lotion that was thick, unscented, free from parabens, or nut oils.
