Start with an antihistamine and a topical cortisol cream. It usually is an allergic reaction, sometimes to something you have not shown a reaction to before. Mine started with kiwi fruit, my husband gets it from chopping tomatoes.

I hav eczema on my hands, too, and I totally feel your pain!! Aquaphor ointment helps me a lot, especially if I can keep it covered. If it's a small area you can use a bandaid but if it's a large area, cotton gloves might help. Try to keep that on all night. It takes a while to go away but it will give you some relief. Hope you feel better soon!
try cetaphil lotion and eucarine.
I know when my kids start to get it, an oatmeal bath is a huge help. You can get Aveeno oatmeal bath in the baby aisle, or just put regular oatmeal in a sock. If you have little kids that you bathe, give them oatmeal baths--they'll love it and it will protect your hands. Also, try not to use anything drying--like soap. Wear gloves when you do the dishes.
I know my hands are always dry from mom-stuff (diapers, washing, cooking, washing), but use the Cetaphil or Eucerin after washing.
Hi K.,
Here's some advice from my dermatologist/boss:
"Studies have shown zinc to be an effective home remedy for curing pimples or acne. It is even more powerful than placebo and consumption of antibiotic medication is still considered to be more effective.
ECZEMA: Also called as atopic dermatitis, is an inflammatory and chronic disorder of skin. It is mainly caused by deficiency of zinc in the body. Zinc plays an important role in healing chronic infection and assists the body in restoring its ability to heal properly".
He posted this on his facebook page this week. If you'd like to join the page it's under "dr brandt skincare".
Hope this helps!!

I know it can be very painful. I have breakouts from time to time and I use a cream called Psoriasin. I found it at the drug store by the itch creams. It works! I don't think it was very expensive either. Just dab it on and the burning pain goes away immediately. And, it's supposed to reduce the number of episodes.
Hi K.,
I hope by now your eczema is better. I think topical creams, lotions and an oatmeal bath may help you feel better. But, none of that is getting to the heart of the problem.
I have psoriasis that used to be red, itchy, scaly patches of skin. For years I went to a dermatologist and faithfully applied both prescription and over-the-counter creams. It never made the psoriasis go away. It wasn’t until I made some changes in my life, that I can now say my psoriasis is under control. I think the same could be true for your eczema.
I direct market all natural and organic products for Shaklee Corporation. I highly recommend their products, but I’ll give you generic suggestions.
Stop using toxic chemicals around the house: Clorox, Tide, Dawn, Pledge, Mr. Clean and Pinesol to name a few. There’s a very informative video called Toxic Brew that was made by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC). You can watch it at: http://www.healthtalktoday.net/toxic-brew-video .
Replace the toxic cleaners with all natural, green cleaners. I recommend: http://star.myshaklee.com/us/en/whynow.html#/healthyhome .
Take your vitamins every day. The foods we eat just don’t have the nutrients they used to have even 30 or 40 years ago. So, if you’re thinking you’re eating well and don’t need vitamins, that’s just not true anymore. We ALL need to take good quality vitamins and supplements every day. More info and recorded audios here: http://www.HealthShak.net .
If you’re interested, I have some specific recommendations. I don’t login to Mamasource very often. So, if you’d like more info, you’ll find me on Twitter, Facebook or my blog. The links are on my Mamasource profile.
Good luck to you.

I was prescribed an antibacterial ointment and steroidal ointment by a dermatologist and told to use burow's solution, which you buy over-the-counter from a pharmacy. See a dermatologist-they are so helpful.
The best help for my hands when they are really bad is hydrocortisone cream.
There was study done recently at the University of Florida's medical school where Kefir was used to cure Eczema so my pediatrician reccomended I try it for my son- it cured it! Kefir is a dairy product that has 10 probiotics and enzimes in it. You can get flavored kind at Publix or better get the natural kind at specialty health stores like BM Organics in Fort Lauderdale.
I shop with a 26 year old health and wellness company that has this really great lotion that works specifically on eczema and is not greasy...I can send you a sample if you would like and if it works I can get you more info if you would like. What I have learned so far has shocked me... I am all too happy to share that info with any concerned Moms. I am not a sales person for them, I'm just a happy very loyal customer and they allow us to share our 40% discount too, if you want to try them yourself! Happy to help! Again I have a free sample I can send you for you to try and see how it works for you and we can go from ____@____.com
no sugar, no dairy and no processed foods.
also, try to do yoga or something, stress can trigger it or lack of sleep but diet change is really needed.
