Have any of your doctors suggested it is from an allergy? From what I've heard/read, eczema is usually from something ingested. I don't know how much truth there is to it, but my dd only gets breakouts now when she ingests one of her allergen/intolerance foods. She had eczema all her life, but her allergies didn't really surface until we started solids.
In agreement with the PP, I found the vaseline creamy to be the best, and cheapest, product. My dd dermatologist said to use a petroleum based lotion, not oil based (like lubriderm). I also use Aveeno body wash or Dove liquid for her.
If the creams are not working, I would start to look at what he is eating. GL.
