ok my daughter has eczema thats pretty mild. well anywho she has broke out on her leg with 3 small patches. she doesnt itch or irritate them but i cant get them to go away. i lotion her after her bath every morning (her baths are only long enough to wash her so about 5-10 mins) and shes well hydrated and has no known food allergies (shes bee tested). i have been using cortizone 10 on her leg for about 4 days now 2-3 times a day and the patches arent clearing up. they also are not getting worse so im not THAT worried. i just want to know what other moms have used to clear their babies problem eczema up. my sister has a prescription steroid cream for my nephews but their eczema is waaay worse then my daughters. any advice would eb great :) thanks!

Hi J.. My son has it too. We used all kinds of lotions but none worked until I came across this lotion called Renew. It is the best lotion ever. it helped my sons skin so fast and best part of all it is clinically proven to work.
Send me a message so I can tell you where to get it.

Hi J.,
When my daughter now 2 was 4 months, she had eczema and the dct had me bath her in frag. free dove body wash. Then I rubbed her down with the Aveeno lotion, as the ladies below said. This cleared her up I'd say within a few days of doing this. And everytime I would change her diaper I would put lotion on her again. We lived in GA at the time, and the humidity is so bad there. But now she's got great skin.

Good luck

Aveeno is good also using a non scented detergent and soap work. On my daughter I use Dove sensitive skin. Depending on how bad it is you may want to talk to your child's pediatrician again and they may refer you to a dermatologist. Also what my child's dermatologist told me was to take her a bath in cool to warm water and get her out soon because the water dries the skin out. Make sure though that the detergent is fragrance free and keep the nails cut.

Hi
My 4 year old almost 5 year old has eczema. It started off as rough skin when he was a newborn and escalated from there. By the time he was 2 he started scratching open a spot on the crook of his arm. It was so very bad for a year then healed. However, he started scratching other spots like the front of his neck, the back of his neck, the other arm, the backs of his knees and now his upper chest and upper back. This week his face broke out something awful.

I have tried the steroids but don't believe they help. He does have seasonal allergies and sensitivities to perfumes and cleaners. So, we are a somewhat moderate case of eczema.

This is what I do:
-Bathe every 3 days when mildly dirty maybe every 2 days when very dirty for about 5 minutes. Otherwise I use a washcloth to clean the dirty spots. Oh, and finish bath with a quick cool water soak. Really makes a difference.
-Bathe with Aveeno for eczema. The only stuff that works and I've tried all sorts of washes from all over.
-After baths cover in Aquophor from face to toes.
-On other nights, wipe with moist washcloth and cover with Cerave lotion from face to toes.
-Meds: Hydroxyzine at night when very itchy. Zyrtec in the a.m. during allergy season.
He also has a couple of topicals which I have not used yet.
-I also use Aveeno itch cream on his neck and crooks of arms. Seems to help.
-I've tried something called Florasone from Sprouts. And, Psorzema from Whole Foods. Both are ok.

Was told that the eczema would lessen as he got older. It hasn't. In fact now he's allergic to more stuff. Hope your baby outgrows it. Really hate to see my beautiful little boy in discomfort.

BTW, he does not eat dairy at all. And hasn't show an allergy to foods either. A mystery. We are seeing a specialist as well.

Good luck.

I use Aveeno products, limit dairy products (our son drinks mostly rice milk) and do not bathe daily. Our ped said to only use soap 1-2 times a week. Children don't get smelly like adults. I bring my son in the shower with me from time to time for just a rinse, but only use soap twice a week. As far as the poster below mentioning Renew, it is a great lotion BUT you have to become a member of Melaleuca and it gets costly. If you want to try that lotion, I recommend going to ebay to try it first before you find yourself committed to buying $70 worth of products a month.

My son has pretty wicked eczema on his back and legs, and it tends to flare up during the summer months when it's dry outside. We use all Aveeno products for bath, hair and lotions. They have a great infants/kids cream lotion that kids the flares up minimal. Mine too is hydrated and only lactose intolerant, so it was a mystery for a while. Our dermatolagist recommended the Avenno stuff and now we both use it.

I don't used any steriod products, as directed by the Dermatologist because he said it can be harmful to little immune systems if used too often and can become ineffective. He also recommended using oatmeal in the bathwater and always giving a bath after beach or pool time.

Good Luck.
