So I finally found the perfect apartment which is on an estate on 7 acres and beautiful and in New hope like I was searching for...perfect right??? well no even though its in New hope its not In New hope SD apparently its one block off....which is the only school disreict to offer full day K so without being in the SD I have to pay money for daycare or private kindergarten which would make this place to expensive...ugh!!! I cant catch a break looking, all of the places that are in the SD won't take someone with kids or are wayyy to expensive, one other place doesnt have an opening until 10/1 and the school said id have to pay a whopping 70.62 a day for the month I wasnt actually living there!!! Oh and they said they'd take that in cash...oh and up front...sure just let me rip out an extra 2k from my divorced single parent pocket and hand that over!!! Ugh and then this place Perfect in every sense but one block off....so I've decided eating is overrated...right??? i mean she could survive off of perogies and frozen veggies for one year until she got into free 1st grade right, and I'd eat peanut butter banana sandwiches everyday (both of our favorites...)?? , I';d only have 400 left for the month for food and gas for the car to get to and from work and anywhere else....blah anyway that was my vent....anyone else meet these struggles looking for an apartment? obviously i'm not taking the place and will contintue looking for a palce I can afford to fee my daughter while living in

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

tawnya---oh my setting is wrong it should be warminster---My daughter could't get into the other school districts b/c their cut off is 09/1 and shes 2 days off, new hope is 09/15 so I would save 800 a month on childcare, making in affordable to spend a little more on the home rental....the other areas like southampton, richboro....seem to have rent arnd 1300-1500 a month and I would have to pay 800 a month in childcare...so New hope if I found the right place is the only economical choice...unless i find something really cheap somewhere else...which i am looking at as well.

Hi Jen,
I see that you're in Richboro, how come you need to move to New Hope? I mean I can understand why you might want to live there but last time I checked New Hope is a very very expensive area. There are many less expensive areas around Richboro that you could move to that have decent school districts, isn't Council Rock a great school district right there in Richboro? If you move to a lesser expensive area you could afford childcare if you can't get your daughter into full day kindergarten. J. my two cents...I know that sometimes when you have your heart set on something, it's hard to look "outside of the box" and see what your other options are.
I wish you the best!

Yeah, my husband & I went through this when we still lived in NJ. We were trying to decide about him giving up his Federal job to work for a police department, but they all had living requirements, like you had to live within city limits for the first year or 2. That would be fine except that the highest paying cities (Atlantic City, etc.) are places that you wouldn't want to live & would absolutely end up spending every extra cent and then some sending your kids to private school. We ended up moving to Delaware J. so we could buy a house & he could work for a city that didn't have living requirements aside from the normal "don't live farther than 45 minutes away".

We were tempted to move to one of the more expensive & much prettier cities closer to the beach, but we would have ended up house-poor, too so we didn't.

The thing about situations that seem perfect except for the big BUTS is that the BUTS are usually there for a reason.
There have been so many times I felt frustrated or disappointed because something I desired so much didn't work out, but it never fails that something better and more perfect came along.
I'm a single mom and I tend to be anxious and wish things would J. fall into place because let's face it, life seems like it would be so much easier that way. Most recently, I was so disappointed that I didn't get a job I really fought for. It was between M. and one other applicant and the job seemed perfect for M.. I seemed perfect for the job. The owner of the business went with someone with a degree in the field but with no work experience.
Anyway, two weeks later, I got an even better job. I didn't get what I wanted so badly because there was something better waiting for M.. I J. didn't know that at the time.
So.....hang in there. Keep looking. Know that sometimes things aren't "perfect" for a reason.
I have a feeling that the very right place and situation will present itself to you soon.

Best wishes.
