Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend any good cook books for eating healthy on a budget. I have the American Heart Association's No Fad Diet book, which I love, but I'm getting bored with it.

What can I do next?

Make a list of the things that you like to eat. Do a Google search for recipes for the ingredients and create your own meals. Use different spices, bake and broil insteady of frying foods. Make large portions and freeze half for another day. Create meals for a month and then making accordingly. Email off list and I can give your more details. The other S.

I find filling my basket with produce first, meats second leaves no room for unncessary food from the isles. I make fruit smoothies for me and the kiddos and the fruit can last at least the week. Salads for lunch and a great cassarole for dinner that can be used for left overs. Martha Stewarts little cookbook, Everyday Food has great ideas. Hope this helps. M.

"Healthy" is very stretchy definition. What is healthy for you? In my opinion sprouts is the most healthy food, you can soak them and grow in your home and it will cost you pennies... Fenugreek, clover seeds, mung beans, lentils, garbanzo beans, adzuki beans... If you interested I can tell you more about it. As far as recipes, on line I like this site: http://www.elise.com/recipes/ , you can modify recipes to your degree of healthiness. As a book I can recommend this site http://store.hippocratesinst.org/category.aspx?SID=5&... they have a lots of books with the most healthy recipes, if fact there is no better (as far as healthy) than what they offer.

The local library has a good collection of cook books to browse before you buy.

You might check out Half Price Books which has new and used books at reasonable prices. That way, you can browse through the book to see if it interests you.
