Eat This Not That

has anyone used/read these books, there are a number of them out there now and I am interested to see if they really do make a diference in how/what you eat. I am thinking of picking one up, can not seem to find one at a used book store so that is typically a good sign that it is quality because no one wants to give up thier copy, but have any of you used it yet??

What can I do next?

I do like them but they are geared mostly to the calorie - fat - sodium content.
I can't remember which book it's in, but the one example that always sticks in my head is it is OK to Eat Life Saver ice cream with all the artificial colors, flavors and ever sweeteners in it but it's NOT OK to eat an ice cream with 2 ingredients because it's higher in fat and calories.
Overall though I think it's good info.

I would recommend these books. I use mine all the time. My favorite is the "Cook This/Not That" because it actually gives you recipes rather than restaurant picks. My kids love the "Eat This/Not That for Kids". When we're at the grocery store they remember which cereals are better for them to eat more than I do. Ha.

I have read the series of books - for free from my local library! Check yours to see if they have them. The books are great, easy to ready, visual and provide great information that's easy to apply when buying groceries or dining out. See my blog post http://wp.me/p1cagu-29 and I also recommend Michael Pollan's FOOD RULES - great read on what we should eat to fuel our body! I have a blog post on Pollan's book and also got it from the library! http://wp.me/p1cagu-16

The books are loaded with detailed menu information regarding every fast food restaurant available to humans.

The nutrition information is basic dietary common sense. The basic recommendation is : Don't order or choose any fried foods, cream based Alfredo sauces, skip regular soft drinks and fake fruit juices, etc. It teaches you how to decipher menu language.

I would recommend your local library to peruse the books if you can't find them at the thrift stores. Or go to Amazon.com for great book buys.

I've got "Eat This Not That" as well as "Eat This Not That for Kids". Once you start going through them, you'll get the hang of it and won't need to shop with the book in your hands. (Although we all know we shouldn't be feeding ourselves or our children processed foods, did you know that Spaghetto's are a better choice than Kraft's Mac N Cheese?) Great books.

I have some of them. The one about the restaurants was really helpful. There were some things that I was eating out (Market Fresh sandwiches at Arby's, Panera) that I thought were better for me than they really were. I haven't had the time to really sit and read them all but what I have looked at seemed helpful. I just saw the author on The Today Show recently. I think there is another book coming out soon.

I have the grocery store one and the restaurant one. I do love the info in them, but my problem is that I can't remember what was on the good page and what was on the bad page when I get to the grocery store. I can't ever remember to take it with me. And I don't have the time to sit down with my grocery list and go through the book to make notes. I barely have time to make a list!! Bottom line: they are good books if you are able to actually use the info in them.
