Hi Mamas:

So, I have a few ideas but wanted to reach out to this group for some more. There are about 6 of us ranging from 9 yrs old to 75 yrs old (all "girls" in my family) going on a girl's only retreat from June 11-15; we go to a place every other year. This year I thought it would be fun to do 1 or 2 crafts on our trip. So, it needs to be simple, cost effective and fun! I think it would cool if it was really "girly" too...for instance, I used to have a recipe for milk bath and I made it on my own one year. I can kind of remember, but anyone have any good ideas? I know there are lots out there...Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

My sisters and I did a retreat last June and had a lot of fun! One activity that we did during quiet time was "Remember When". One of my sisters had made a list of questions on a variety of topics to get things started (favorite food growing up, favorite family vacation, favorite TV show as a kid, etc.). Then we took it from there! The younger members of your group might be intrigued with some of the memories, given the age span of your group. My granddaughter and I made bath salts for Christmas gifts one year. Used different scents, colors, inexpensive (think thrift store finds) pretty glass containers, and a bit of like colored ribbon to finish it off. Have a wonderful time! We sure did.

my first thought was to make ice cream cone bird feeders. (all you need is waffle cones, peanut butter, pipe cleaners and bird seed). its easy for all ages.

Pick up some plain inexpensive hats and decorate them. You could pick up silk flowers, beads, glitter, fabric paint, glue -- a lot of it at the dollar store.

You could also decorate canvas tote bags.

What about making journals? (books)
Just google "how to Make a Journal" and you'll get lots of instructions.

Good for all ages, right?

I gave my friends 9yr old a 'Nail Art kit' by 'Klutz' (brand) for her Birthday and all the little girls thought it was the bomb. Retails for $15 and includes a couple of small jars of nail polish. The book shows a hundred or so easy designs for painting on your finger or toe nails. Make a mistake; just start again. Could be fun for women of all ages to do with the kids.
Have fun; it sounds like a great weekend

For your bath salts:

Mix equal parts:
1 C Epsom Salts
1 C Sea Salts
1 C Kosher Salts
1 C Powdered Milk
4 T Oil (baby oil)
10-20 Drops of Essential Oils (coconut & lime; lemon & orange)

Mix well and pour into plastic containers.

You could pick up plastic ziploc storage bags at a Michael's, or start saving clear mayonaise size jars then decorate the lids with fabric and ribbon.
