My son will be just shy of 14 months this Easter. I went with all small toys and the only food I got was colored goldfish. When he is older I'll do a small amount of candy. Since it will also be his first summer where he will be playing outside I tried to get him mostly toys for outside which he doesn't really have yet. We are also going on a vacation soon after so I picked up a few dvds that I can bring on the trip with us. Then to make it more of an easter basket I got a Elmo easter book and a stuffed bunny.

I almost forgot my great find at target in the easter section - Little People easter eggs by fisher price. They are for 1y plus. Next year I'm definitely getting him the easter mr potato head (that is for 2 yr plus)

For snacks we stayed away from candy...we did more of the toddler gerber snacks, which was a rare treat in our house. As for the eggs, I think we put stickers in them...the kids really enjoy the egg hunt more than the prize at that age. I think we did a ball, some bubbles, a bubble gun and sidewalk chalk. Maybe a stuffed animal. Keep it simple. Your wee one will be thrilled with anything.

books and playdoh. If u do an egg hunt then there can be candy in there. Not too much. But it is a special time so it is ok.

My advice? Place small toys, such as match box cars, Army men and just a FEW pieces of candy. I am not anti-candy, but by the tiime the whole holiday is over? WHEW!!! You've obtained a couple of pounds!!!

Keep it simple... :)
Happy Easter!!!!

We put in some inexpensive toys, t-shirts or clothes, and some snack foods or treats they like. Last year we did a package of oreos for one of my boys. He loved them (and was still too little for candy). For the eggs last year we did playdough filled plastic eggs.

Last year for our egg hunt we filled some of the eggs with Goldfish crackers and some with Cheerios--just a few in each one. This year my son is 3 and I am putting Goldfish in some and a couple of M&Ms or jelly beans in others. For his Easter basket last year, I put in a new small stuffed animal (which quickly became his favorite!), some sidewalk chalk, big crayons, and a new Easter-themed Sesame Street book. No candy. This year I'll do a few candies as well as some Hot Wheels cars, since he recently got into those. Good luck and Happy Easter!

At grandma's house last year, she actually filled each egg with a penny so it would make the "clinking" sound without being food treats. Then the kids had a little savings to add to their piggy banks as well. (I suppose in today's economy, the kids would probably need dimes or quarters in order to be able to buy anything, but it's the thought that counts!)

Hello, If he likes the Gerber's fruit snacks, you can actually put them in plastic eggs and put them in his basket. I get different things for each of my grandkids depending on their ages. I have put fruit roll up in there. I would be very careful about the plastic eggs, get the large ones that don't fit into their mouths.
Good luck with your precious little boy.

My son is 20 months and I was thinkinh the same thing. Today i went to Michaels Craft Store and bought some medium sized, plastic zoo animals that I'm going to stuff into large plastic eggs. I also got him a book, truck and crayons.

My son is a little older, but I do almost the same thing for him and my older step-sons. I love the dollar section at Target, Michael's, or the dollar store. It doesn't matter that the older ones are 10 and 16... all three boys got an animal shaped water gun!! They will have a blast. Don't expect most of the easter themed toys to last very long. They do make for a fun day though. Something neat my sister does with her boys... keeps the easter toys in their basket for the coming years. My nephews are 5 and 8 and they love (and are starting to be able to rememeber) the toys from the past years!!
