I am looking for a fun, age appropriate place to hold my daughter's 5th birthday party that won't break the bank and is in the Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord area. It will be her first 'real' birthday party with friends. I've looked into Encore Gymnastics and Chuckee Cheese already. Looking for someone who has 'been there, done that' and has advice on what to do or not to do.
Thank you!

We have had a petting zoo party, the oakland zoo party, a jumpy house in the backyard, which all add up. This year, we just found out that pump it up in concord has shorter weekday parties (1 1/2 hours) for 10 kids total for $125 or 14 kids for $175 with a coupon. so we are going to do the smaller party for $125 and just bring in packaged snacks and cupcakes for snack.

well, we've kept ours on budget by using the backyard and having a few high schoolers from our church help out with games and crafts. So I don't have any idea what the rates are for various party venues but can tell you that the some places my kids have attended parties at besides Encore are Pump It Up and Sky High Sports (both in Concord), Kids'N'Dance, the Art Room and Color Me Mine in Lafayette, All in the Kiln in Walnut Creek, Gymboree at the Lafayette Community Center, and the seasonal ice rink in Walnut Creek.

edited to add: a couple other places to consider: the Lindsay Wildlife Museum http://www.wildlife-museum.org/education/birthdays.php and the Animal Rescue Foundation http://www.arf.net/people-programs/birthday-parties/birth...

You might also want to check with the Parks and Rec departments for Walnut Creek and Concord to see if they have birthday party programs - I remember when my girls were in Kindy, one of their classmates had a b-day at the Orinda Community Center/Park that included a cheerleading class in the community center.

Our best birthday party was renting a pony for the backyard and having pony rides. for another BD we also hired Andreas Musical Adventures and she entertained the kids. We also has a BD party at Gymboree in Concord - great place. Good-luck.

We did our daughter's 4th at My Gym in Walnut Creek. They did a great job, and it was reasonably priced.
