I do not see or feel any teeth coming in but my son breaks out into screaming fits and starts chewing on his hands. He has started excessive drooling in the past 2 weeks. He is only 10 weeks old. Any advice?

What can I do next?

Both of my girls did the same thing and had teeth come through early. Just bear with him, give him lots of loving, and they'll come through soon. Once you see the first one, the rest will pour in. Cool, wet washcloths help. It's rough to help the gums and they can suck the water out also. Good luck!

My son expierenced teething very early on also. Nothing helped except at night I would give him Motrin to help him sleep better.

Some tricks I used for my son when he got a little older:
(supervised of course)
-Have him gum frozen french fries (to this day he still loves frozen fries)
-Cold Baby Carrots
-Chew on Washcloth (cold & damp)

The first few months of it is very hard but thank goodness they give you a break in between.

Good luck!

some babies are born with teeth so dont worry if they are teething early its normal and they will chew on their hands pacifiers and blankets and pretty much anything they can get their hands on! baby orajel is great 3 times a day or 4 times a day a little pea size is good also use a baby tooth brush and or gum cleaner it helps with the sorness in their mouth! just hope if your breast feeding then watch out for the little tooth it hurts lol! Good luck

It could very well be teething. My son started the drooling and chewing on things at about 3-4 months, but we didn't see the first tooth until his 6 month checkup. By 10 months, we had eight teeth. Some babies just teeth earlier than others and it is all perfectly normal. I could always tell when my son was getting a tooth because he would constantly get the hiccups, start spitting up, become restless at night and fussy during the day. This would last for about three days, then we would have a new tooth...sometimes two! That is just how he did it. Evey baby is different.

We tried the teething tablets and orajel, but they didn't work. It just seemed to make him more mad. What did work was tylenol and frozen french fries (I put the fries in baggies, so he couldn't accidentally swallow some).

My three month does the same thing, but I can see his teeth coming in. My advice to you is to try tylenol when he starts screaming and see what happens. That or try some teething rings. Put them in the refigerator not the freezer. I was told by the doctor that if you freeze them, the baby has a higher chance of getting frost bite on their gums. Just make sure you have a few teething rings on hand because they do tend to cool down a lot faster than a frozen one. Good Luck.

It is not uncommon for children to 'teethe' for a few weeks before you see a tooth.

Hi, My son also went thru a face when he was 3-4 months old where he was fuzzy and drooling like crazy, but then his 1st teeth didn't show until he was 12 months old (he was a late teether, which the doctor told me is as normal as early ones!). So in my experience teething is not an exact science :-) and drooling not always indicate inmediate teething. But in any case what I gave my son is a homeopathic remedy that's wonderful, they are teething tablets, that can be dissolved easily in a few drops of water and can be given with a dropper since yours is so little (mine is already 3 yrs old!). The tablets are from the brand Hyland's can be given at any age and I've seen them at walmart in the baby section. I also give my son "Gripe Water" an organic natural remedy not only good for teething but also for colic and hiccups. It's wonderful and I've been given to him since birth and to this day it gives relief fast. That one I've bought at natural food stores (I recently moved to Mayaguez so I'm not sure I'll be able to find this one here). That's my advice, I know some moms don't like using natural products but it's work wonderfully for me. Good luck
