For the life of me i cant remember what the age is when u can get your babies ears pierced. i apprenticed in a parlor and we never had anyone come in to get an infants ears pierced before. Its just something ive never gave much thought about. i dont want to get them done at claires or anywere like that (i want someone who has been trained in bloodborn pathogens) i would prefer her dr to do, but i was just wondering how old thye need to be. ive heard 3 weeks, 1 month, 6 weeks, 3 months....... im going to ask at her next apointment but thats not for another two weeks. thanx in advance mommies!

I gave my daughter a choice... Her body=her choice

She chose around 10 yrs old and it was a good experience that was HER choice.

I don't own her, not my place to pierce or tattoo her.

I got custody of my daughter when she was ten days old...she is my biological niece. In the nine days prior to me getting her, my sister had her ears pierced...I took them out!

My personal opinion is that you wait until your child asks you! No matter what age they get their ears pierced you need to keep rotating the studs and cleaning the area with surgical spirits at least twice a day. It does hurt a bit ... and it can get infected despite your constant care! I had my ears pierced when I was 16 years old and the holes kept getting pussy and inflamed despite daily disinfection. It turns out I'm allergic to EVERYTHING that isn't pure gold! Needless to say, I've given up on wearing earings! My daughter first had her ears pierced when she asked me (5 years old) - sterling silver earings, infection, gave up after 3 months of hell. We tried again when she was 12 years old - "hypoallergenic surgical steel" earings- same result. Her holes have now closed over and she hasn't asked again! Maybe your baby doesn't want holes in her ears and you'll be going through a lot of trouble and expense for nothing! Just my opinion, but ask yourself why you want to make holes in your baby's ears before you do it! Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

You can get the babys ears pierced whenever you want. I got mine done day I got out of the hospital. I slept right through it, so did my sisters, and cousins etc. Every one I knew didnt hurt them or cry.
I say the sooner the better! So cute with little studs in their ears :)

When I worked at Walmart it was 6 months, but I think some placed do it younger. I had my son's done at Clairs and it was great, but he was 3 1/2, not a baby at the time.

I got both of my daughters pierced at 3 months old ,after the second set of shot, (I think they get tetanus at birth and then at 2 or 3 months old).
we did it in her pediatritian office, and was the most easy thing to do , they don't even touch your baby ears , they have this small packages with the earrings set up in a clip so they just open de package put her in the ear and clip... she did cry for about 10 seconds each ear and that's it never have a problem, the younger the better, because after 6 months she can pull her earrings out, and for those whose saying their body ther choice , I 'll bet you if you ask your daughters when they get old they would problalby say that they prefer not to remember the pain or the stressed to go to get pierced.but that's my own opinion......

I had my daughters ears pierced by the nurse in the hospital when she was 3 days old. This was in Mexico, and is a common practice, so the nurses all know how to do it. She has never had a problem with them. She is 3 now and I just changed them to a little larger, drop diamond type earring, they look really cute and she loves them. I had mine done when I choose to in the 6th grade and had nothing but problems for the first 6 months. I say earlier the better!

I'm giving my daughter a choice as to when she wants her ears pierced. She is 4 1/2. I want it to be a memorable event for her, and to let the decision be her own.
Your pediatrician will be the best bet for an infant. I think 6 weeks is about the right time.

I had mine done at three days old, my daughter was two months. It depends on the person doing it, I guess, but I heard many times you should wait until after the first round of shots.

I've always heard that before 3 months, they do not have feelings in their ears because the nerve endings aren't developed fully. My ex husband made it my daughter's choice and she asks me to get it done and always chickens out at the last minute. I regret letting him make that choice, because now that it is her descision, she's too scared.

If you decide to do it within first few years. As longest all of her dtp shots are done ( just in case of infection) definitely before 9th month before the arm, hand coordination so she does not pick and pull her ears while they are healing etc. Good luck! Congratulations on your little princess!

generally they say before 6 months, or not until after 2. they just pull at them too much. I just got my daughters done right before she turned 5. she wanted them done for her first day of school. I took her to a body piercing studio near by. the guy did an AWESOME job. i was very pleased!

my daughters were done around 5 months, but we were told that they could be done as early as the 1st round of shots had been completed, had them done at walmart, there were 2 girls there that had to be there at the same time to do both sides together, my daughter cried for less than 2 min. it was more the holding her head that she pichted a fit about cuz she wanted to see what was goin on and as soon as i let go and she could look around she was fine but she always had to see what was going on at all times. i guess it all depends on where you go on how old they have to be tho, but at walmart each earing is pre-packaged, and in a plastic holder and then put into the gun and pushed thru the ears, no contact with anything until they go thru the ears, and the person cleans with alcohol pads and has gloves and everything very clean, ive had mine done a few more times at walmart and if my girl decideds she wants more in her ears we will go back.
