Hello fella mammas! I have a beautiful baby girl who is almost 3 months old now! (Where has the time gone?!!) I can just hardly wait to do all the "girlie" things with her. I found out that I can go ahead and get her ears pierced - and I really think it would be good to do so before she starts becoming all "grabby".. My mother got my ears pierced when I was an infant so based on that, I think it will be alright to do :) However, my question to you is if you might have any suggestions on where to get an infants ears pierced - I mean a place that you have been too, the folks are experienced and sterile of course! I was thinking about taking her to one of those "sweet & sassy" salons for lil' girls - I went to check one out already and they have the 14ct. gold infant earrings.
Thanks mammas!

What can I do next?

Why would you want to go through the hassle of having to clean them? As she gets older she will become grabby and might pull them out. I don't think it looks good or is a good idea to get babies ears pierced. Wait for her to decide when she wants her ears pierced. I got mine on my 13 birthday so it felt extra special.

I highly recommend checking with your pediatrician's office as most of them do ear piercing now. You will have to pay a seperate fee, not your ins. copay, as it won't be filed to your ins. If your office does not do it I know that Claire's will. A friend of mine had her now 1 yr old daughter's ears pierced there when she was 6 mo. old. I am also considering having my 8 mo old daughter's done very soon, too. Hope this helps!

wait for her to decide for herself please! what if she's allergic to the metal? what if she's a complete tomboy? why make this your choice, not her choice? they are her ears, not yours.

I had my dd done when she was 5 months old at Libby Lu at the Parks Mall in Arlington. I think the store has since closed. The reason I chose them was because they were willing to do both ears at once, as long as they had to people there that did piercing. Claire's would not do both at once. I highly recommend doing both at once because she is going to cry. Good luck.

Once her ears are all healed, you can go to Sally's to get locking earrings. They have longer posts. The locking ones from Target and Walmart don't. Sally's earrings are usually in a case up at the front counter with all the piercing guns. Be sure to turn dd's earings often. You will have to do this for at least a year to be sure the skin doesn't start to grow over the back of the earring (that is another reason to leave in her earrings she gets pierced with as long as possible-they have extra long posts to keep the back away from the surface of the ear).

We went to our pediatrician when mine was 7 months old. I wouldn't trust anyone else at this early age. Have fun with her!

We went to Claire's. Everyone I know has went there for their little girl. We had no problems. I got my daughter's done at 4 months. Claire's (in the mall) as been doing it forever.

We just had my five year old's done at Sweet and Sassy at NE Mall, and the reason we went there was because they do both ears at the same time. I wish they had done that with me when I was younger!!! They are also good about getting the little girls minds off of it afterwards. Now a three month old I think the best thing to do would be to have maybe a bottle or nurse afterward. Something comforting. A lollipop just isn't going to do the trick for her.
Good luck!

Just throwing this out but what if your "girly girl" doesn't turn out to be a "girly girl"? I think you wait until she is old enough to make the decisions for herself.. I speak from experience!

I took my baby girl to Sweet and Sassy in Southlake. Two did it at the same time and she didn't even cry. Claire's should be good too. Our pedi doesn't pierce ears. I do have a sister that agree with another post abouit waiting cuz she thinks it was a great experience. I decided agaisst this for 2 reasons. I feel that older kids are more likely to get infection for touching it and I see too many kids 5 and older who want to do their ears but are scared and freaking out. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

Most pediatricians will do ear piercing now but I think mine requires the baby to be 6 mo old.

I know this may not be entirely relevant but I got mine done when I was five. I really enjoyed it that way because my mom let me decide if I was ready to get my ears pierced, and of course I was because I wanted to be just like my mom! =) Also, I got to pick out which earrings I wanted, and I got a special treat for being such a "big girl" and doing really well. It was a great afternoon bonding with mom, and now as an adult I have that wonderful memory of that day spent with mom. Just a thought.

Hi,

I got my daughter's ears pierced when she was 3 and a 1/2 months old. Got it done at Claire's at Grapevine Mills Mall. Two people did both ears simultaneously. She only cried for about a minute. Had no problems with infection. Just make sure you use the ear-cleaning solution they provide for 6 weeks.

My pediatrician does not do ear piercing but my OB had suggested another pediatrician in Carrollton who does. But most people I spoke with had used Claire's.

Good Luck !
