Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting my daughter's ears pierced (she's 9 months now). Does anyone have any recommendations of places that are good with infants?
You may want to ask your pediatrician to do it. My daughter's ears have been pierced since she was 2 months old.
I got my daughter's pierced at Claire's when we lived in Houston and I think they're all over Dallas too. The lady was really nice and quick. My little girl was 4mos. at the time and I got tired of everyone saying was a cute little boy she was even when she was dressed in pink. She had no hair! I know everyone has there opinion about the piercing thing, but I'm glad I did it because I saw two 5yr olds walk away crying and screaming with only one ear done. My daughter doesn't remember the pain(she did cry, but not for long) and she loves her earrings. This is probably more than you wanted to know, but I say do it! Best Wishes!
You may want to check with your pediatrician. My pediatrician offers ear piercing in his office which is sterile versus the mall.
Good luck!
You may want to consider a few things before you get her ears pierced...
1. ask your doctor before you do it...
2. It is quite painfull, and babys sleep alot. Head laying down. That would hurt terribly! She will have trouble sleeping and that means you will too!
3. Infection is likely w/infants, why risk it?
4.Who are you doing it for? Your 9month old daughter cares about being fed, and loved. She won't even know WHAT is happening to her only that it hurts!
Don't you think she should have a choice about putting holes in her head and risking infection and pain?
5.Cleaning a wound isn't fun for anyone, let alone a 9 month old infant OR her mother who loves her...
My advice is, wait untill she starts school or comes to you and asks for it. Then you can let her know what's involved and she can make that choice for herself.
I know you will probably be mad at me for writing this, but you asked for opinions and that's mine. Look at this from her(your daughters) point of view
and go with your heart. There will be time enough for her to grow up...
Hi there,
I took my daughter to Southlake (In the square) when she was 2 months old. I can't recall the complete name of the place but it was something like "sweet & sassy" or something like that... they do hair for little girls too. You can go online and research the square at southlake and you'll find it.
Good luck
It seems to be better when they are that small. I always made sure they had 2 piercers; one on both sides to get it over with all at once. I went to Claire's both times I had my girls done.
M.,
I asked this question about a year ago and got a couple of responses. Most of them were negative on how they didn't understand why I would be so vain and get my poor daughters ears pierced and that I should let her make that decision. I did response rather frankly pointing out that if they didn't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. I personally have never heard of a girl every regretting getting their ears pierced. I just wanted to warn you about those. I pierced my daughters ears when she was about 14 months old and I called everywhere and even asked my pediatrician advice on where to go. After calling around and doing some research I ended up going to Claire's in the mall of all places. They did a very good job the holes are in perfect alignment with the other ear and they were real quick and very sanitary. If I had to do it again I would take her there again. I did however do it at a Claire's out of town because I wanted my mom with me for help and support but I've heard good things about all of the stores around hear. Just call ahead and explain to them your concerns and ask all your questions then and then ask them when is the best time to come. Don't worry about it your daughter will only cry for a VERY short time and the ears were easy to clean and my daughter didn't fight with me to clean them and they didn't get infected. Good Luck!
