Ear Injury -- Will I Get Better?

OK, this belongs in news of the bizarre, but last night my six-year-old reached in to kiss me and gave me a big smacker on my ear. The sound was, well, ear-splitting. Now 20 hours later, I still hear "white noise" in my ear. It sounds like I am underwater. When I talk it sounds like I'm outside of my body. Every had this happen? Will I go back to normal, and is there anything a doctor could do? Hearing loss from a kiss, who ever heard of such a thing?

What can I do next?

OH NO! this happened to me! You have a ruptured ear drum (a hole in your eardrum) what your describing is what I heard! My equilibrium was off too! Please go to the doctor!

When you hit the ear w/ force it can get very bruised or even more serious blood clots that block blood flow to the cartilage of the outer ear can occur. You should monitor your symptoms and if its not getting better go to the doctor.

Oh no, what a silly thing to have happen. Can't reallly answer your q. but wanted to say, i had that sensation in my ear, probably an ear infection, I waited almost a week before i saw a dr and he said he really couldn't see a flaming ear infect but gave me antibiotics just in case (great right?!?!) Wether it was the antibotics or it went a way on it's own it did go away. All total about a week and half.

That sounds exactly like the sensations I had when I ruptured my ear drum. The Dr. checked it and told me to just let it heal, but if it did not they would have to put a patch on it inside my ear. It healed fine, but the noise drove me nuts, so I put a soft ear plug in the injured ear and that helped a lot.
