Sounds like an infected tooth to me. If a tooth is dying- it will be sensitive to cold. You can freeze a wet qtip and then place it quickly on each tooth- one second of pain can be normal, but pain that lasts longer and is more intese is a good indicator of a bad tooth. Really the only type of pain meds that work for me with tooth pain is vicoden. If you dont have that try iboprofen but you will have to take it more often. Sometimes a qtip dipped in tea tree oil rubed on and around the tooth by the guns can help numb it a little.
I had an OLD root canal go south and flair up- that was worse that any pain i originally had. It flaired up because I wiggled it. (it was loose in the socket and I knew it). The reason it was loose is there was infection at the tip of it. Well, wiggling it flaired a raging infection- I needed to get it worked on to ease the pain and fix it.
