H.P.
ic hair polisher is what I use. it feels kinda greasy going in, but it isn't at all...very light (i'm soooo particular about that) and protects my hair from "the elements", especially heat.
Sorry if this has been asked...what do you ladies do for dry winter hair? My hair sucks right now! So dry and static-y. I condition and it doesn't seem to help. I use garnier frizzease stuff but it seems to make my hair greasy...

gotta start at homebase on this one! Run a humidifier & you'll be amazed at the difference!
Keep yourself hydrated, & shampoo only every other day. :)
I take coconut oil (the good, real stuff that's solid at room temperature), saturate my hair with it (your hands will melt it enough to do so), and then cover my head with a plastic shower cap. Then I point the hair dryer at my head for 10 minutes or so, and leave the coconut oil on for another 30 minutes. Then wash it out ( might take 2-3 washes) and condition as usual, and hair looks and feels fabulous.
There are products that will help. A light oil that comes in a spray. Check out your beauty supply store.
Try Bumble and Bumble de-frizz. It's pretty expensive, but I swear by it.
You might carry Bounce sheets in your purse and if you are out and about and your hair gets static-y (love that word!), rub the Bounce sheet on your hair. It won't help with the dryness, but it should fix the static.
Dawn
Try argan oil. It's really helped me and doesn't feel super heavy. I use Josie Maran (I buy it at Sephora). It's pricey, but a bottle lasts forever.
Don't use a plastic bristle brush to brush you hair... use a natural Boar bristle brush instead. Using a plastic brush, just gets hair static-y.
Instead of using Garnier Fructis frizzease stuff... use their leave in conditioner creams. I use it, it doesn't make my hair greasy. I love Garnier Fructis hair stuff.
Or, try "TIGI" brand "Bed Head After Party" which is a smoothing cream for making the hair silky and nice! I use this and love it. It does not make the hair greasy. And there is no residue.
Now another tip:
If you are using a leave in 'conditioner'... then, do not condition your hair while shampooing. I mean, you don't need to condition 2 times. Thereby your hair getting greasy and overly conditioned.
Just use the leave in conditioner or the TIGI product I mentioned, once you get out of the shower and blot your hair dry. Put it in your hair while it is still damp. And don't put in too much. Just the size of say, a nickle. That is all I use and I have long super thick hair.
The amount of product, can also make a difference. Too much product, is not good.
This past week, my hair has been dry/frizzy/static-y... and I washed it, (did not condition in the shower), BLOTTED my hair dry (do NOT rub... the hair when you dry it, that will just make your hair more of a mess), and then put in my hair the TIGI Bed Head After Party hair cream. It is a leave in, hair cream. And my hair is now... soft, shiny, not frizzy, no tangles, and lustrous!
And I do not use a plastic bristle hair brush on days like this.
I've heard that a dryer sheet helps with hair static-I use Moroccan oil-it is amazing!
I've been dealing with this a lot too. Some of the things I've found to help are spraying your hair very lightly with hair spray or put lotion on your hands and rub it in most of the way and then smooth your hands over your hair.
You could also use some type of leave in conditioner. A deep conditioning treatment on your hair once or twice a week may be helpful too. I use a Pantene deep conditioning treatment on my hair once in a while and it works pretty well. I don't remember exactly what it's called, but it's really thick and it comes in a tub.
When my hair is really staticky, I rub a tiny amount of conditioner between my hands and run them over and through my hair, not on my scalp. It works and doesn't make it greasy.
