Dry Baby Skin

I recently switched to an organic baby wash and lotion after reading about all of the harmful ingredients in most baby care products. My son still seems to have dry skin, any suggestions? My Pediatrician recommended Dove because it has extra moisturizers, but I am trying to stay away from non-organic products.

What can I do next?

My dermatologist told me to use Vanicream. You get it behind the counter at Targets pharmacy. They have bar soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner. It is dye free, fragrance free, lanolin and paraben free, etc. Cleared up all my bad skin rashes and eczema.

Try Aquaphor - it is the only thing that saves our dry skin during the summer months here in AZ. It is in grocery stores, Target, etc.

I found this organic lotion at sprouts, it's called desert breeze organics, so far i love the coconut one the best. it leaves my skin so soft. i'm not sure if it is for babies, but i put it on my daughter who is 2 and she has sensitive skin.

There are several retail locations where you will find a good quality skin cream - or you can make your own. Look for one with Comfrey leaf and/or Calendula flower in a base of organic coconut oil/cream. Try Sprouts, Whole Foods or Desert Sage Herbs.

Dear R., There are a couple of things that might be helpful that come to mind. Internally, if your little one takes solids, there's an essential fatty acid liquid supplement by Childlife that could be added to baby food. Externally, the company Shikai makes a great pediatric formula of its natural skin lotion that's especially formulated for very dry or allergic skin. It's not 100% organic, but it's a heck of alot better than Dove! Good luck with it!

R.,

I have been using the Arbonne Baby Care line. It is not totally organic, but they do use organic products whenever they are available. They do use all pure & safe products - and there isn't any nut oils/products in their baby care. It is also my business, but their products have changed my family's life.

My husband had really dry skin & ezcema and it was the only thing that he found that worked for him.

Hope you find a solution,
K.

Hi R.,

Our family is the epicenter for dry skin, ezcema and other skin conditions and NOTHING at Target or Sprouts is going to help! I have been battleing this since I was 10yrs old and the drs just prescribe steroids and say use Dove but even that is harsh. So my solution was switching to all Melaleuca products. They have NO harsh chemicals and are eco friendly and everything has Melaleuca Oil in it. I have changed all my cleaning supplies, laundry stuff and lotions to Melaleuca!!! I am having an info meeting at my house soon about their products if you would like to attend let me know! Other than that visit www.melaleuca.com ! Mine and my kids skin is SOOOOO much better! And it is great knowing that they are safe!

Hi R.,

Congratulations on making the decision to go organic! Did you also switch over your laundry detergent? If not, I'd bet that's the problem. Laundry detergents (even the "free & clear" kinds) are very drying to the skin. My favorite brand is "Melaleuca", as it is Ph-balanced almost equal to water. It could also be his diet (or yours if you're still breastfeeding). Feel free to call me with questions, as I have done a lot of research in this area (I'm a Holistic Health & Nutritional Consultant). My office # is ###-###-####.

Best of luck to you!

Warm Regards,
