we made it an only in the bed thing, no paci outside of bedtime, and pulled it entirely at about 2. That's when her pediatrician said it would start interfering with her teeth.
after 1 yr of age, when is the best time to wean the pacifier? she only has it at night now.

I took my daughter's away at 22 months. She was an addict. If she saw another one laying around, she would walk around w/ one in her mouth and one in her hand and swap them out. I tried cutting them as some people suggested to me so that they didn't work. This just ticked her off. I started to throw them out and then when it was down to the last one I snuck it away one morning and told her they were all gone. She cried and was upset, but with some extra snuggles she was ok.
Mine dropped theirs on their own around 1.5... basically when they started talking the paci would interfere and they'd toss it only to look for it when they were bored or for nap/bed time.
I'd wean to bed/naptime only... and then it's much easier to get rid of it later.
We waited til our daughter was 2. We kept telling her that when she turned 2 she would be a big girl and big girls do not need a paci. We just threw them all away at once. I think it was harder on me than her. She asked for it for a few days then that was the end of it. Good luck.
We weaned both of our kids at year, and it was very painless and easy! I think the longer you wait the harder it will be.
