Hi. I was wondering if any of you have used a drop in child care center in the Mesquite/Garland/Dallas Area. I teach a class a couple of nights a week and while I have a regular sitter that watches my 14 month old daughter for a couple of hours until my husband gets home – I would like to have a backup plan just in case my sitter gets sick or something. I live in Mesquite. I have looked at “Adventure Kids Play care” on Preston and Forest and “Kidztime Hourly Play care” on Mockingbird – they are a little far from my home but close to where my husband works. Have any of you used these and what did you think? Also has anyone used anything closer to the Mesquite/Garland Area; or another place in the Dallas area? Thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I are going to go check out Adventure Kids tomorrow. I will then put her in one day for an hour to get a test run to make sure I would feel comfortable. It does make me feel better that you all have had positive excperiences there! Thanks again!

I have used both and found them both to be very good places. I especially appreciated the fact that, at both places, the staff have always been incredibly nice and friendly. The format is not my favorite (leaving my children with a group of other children), but in a pinch, both places are great, reliable options for childcare. Good luck!

I haven't used any drop-in services for any of those areas but I do own my own home daycare and I live in Lancaster. I have two little girls 2 and 3 and I'm CPR certified. Considering that you work in mesquite I don't know if that is to far for you but if you are interested I would love to talk to you. My phone number is ###-###-####. If you know of anyone who are needing childcare please feel free to give them my number.

I've used Kidztime, and I think it is OK for an occassional thing. You might have some problems getting a spot until your daughter is at least 18 months old, though. I think they have higher restrictions about how many infants (under 18 months) they will take, so I would call ahead. The workers are nice and the facility is clean, but the TV is usually on.

My neighbor takes her children to Kidztime and says her two (girl 2 1/2 and boy, 5 1/2) have such a good time they don't want to leave. It might be worth trying once or twice when you are not in a pinch so you can see if your kids like it there and then you'll know you have a reliable backup.
