Has anyone not been satisfied with Dr. Flowers and her staff?
It seems like most people say good things, but honestly I have not been impressed.
Dr. Flowers usually doesn't provide very personalized care- she rushes in and out. She doesn't seem very personable to me. Has anyone gone to her and then changed doctors? If so, which doctor did you choose?

That is the same reason I changed ob/gyn's from the one that I had recommended to me. I now use Dr Gagnon with North Texas Women's (http://www.myobg.com/home). He was really great and took time to listen and explain. He has offices in Keller and w/ Baylor Grapevine. I'm very happy with my switch.

I agree with a previous poster about the model of care being different with a midwife. I used a certified nurse midwife for my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter. It was wonderful. I started out with an OBGYN, but switched at 20 weeks pregnant when I felt the way that you describe; the care was not very personal, it was rushed, and I was just another patient that was pregnant. My midwife was amazing! Total focus on me, my husband, and baby and sometimes my appointments were 45 minutes to an hour long just because we were talking. It was sooo great! I never waited more than 10 minutes for the appointment, either.
There are some great OBGYNs in the DFW area. I don't have personal care experience with them, but I've been a doula for women who have had good experiences with Dr. Cummings at Denton Presby and Dr. Ehmer, Dr. Harris, and Dr. Heckman at Baylor Dallas.
Hope that helps!

My OBGYN is Dr. Mendez (in practice with Dr. Rost whom Teddi Z mentioned and Dr. New). He is wonderful! His staff is very friendly and professional. He takes time to answer any questions. I never feel rushed in his office. He delivered my 2 daughters, both pregnancies were high risk. I trust him completely.

I use her and really like her. I think her personality takes some getting used to - she's VERY smart and very focused on my care...and when she has a mom or two down in L&D those ladies are her focus, so her schedule tends to have to shift to accommodate that. But isn't this true of all OB/GYNs? I was thankful for this focus when I was the mommy down in L&D.

As for her staff - her two nurses, Chris and Tina, were lifesavers to me through my pregnancy, so I really like them. The front office leaves a lot to be desired, though...and I've let Dr Flowers, Chris and Tina know this. They have seemed frustrated with this in the past too.

I've heard great, great things about Dr. Wai in that office as well. I had a bad experience with Dr. Sims when he was back-up one weekend during my pregnancy, so I personally wouldn't recommend him.

I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with Dr. Flowers. This is a time in which you should be completely comfortable with your doctor and thier staff. I have not seen Dr. Flowers except in the delivery room assisting with the delivery of my twins. However, I do see Dr. Sims, who is in the same practice. I love him. I have never felt like he is rushed or in a hurry to leave. He is always very patient and comforting. He delivered my first, helped me through my second (which was a miscarriage at 12 weeks), and delivered my third/fouth (twins). With my last pregnancy, I was in the office every week and he even offered to come down and assist with my Amnio if needed (because I required 2 doctors and 1 had family emergency at the last minute). I will take my daughter to see him when she is a few years older. He is GREAT.

I do have a friend that goes to Dr. Flowers and she is really happy. I tried to get in to see her, but the wait for her is 2 years! Dr. White was recommended to me. He and his staff are wonderful! He takes his time with you and is sympathetic. His nurses respond to calls very quickly and the office staff is very kind. I would highly recommend him.

Hi S..

I changed from Dr. Courtney Walters to Dr. Flowers and was much happier. I hated the staff at Women's Integrated Health and did not get the "warm and fuzzies" from Dr. Walters. I did feel at times that Dr. Flowers was a bit rushed, but at the same time, she ALWAYS was there when I had an appointment. Many of my friends have complained that they rarely saw their doctor, only the nurse practitioner on their visits to other OBGYN's. I believe her rushing is due to how busy she is going from office to delivery room. I did not feel that the nurses were impersonal at all. In fact, I really enjoyed my visits and thought they were very professional and efficient. I do have some friends that use Dr. Wei in the same office and they are very pleased with him.

I haven't ever seen Dr. Flowers, but I have only ever heard rave reviews about her. When I had my second pregnancy, I was looking for a great OB that could really give me personalized care. I had a gyno that I loved, but when I went to her for my first prenatal appt. I was very disappointed. Then I realized that what I really wanted was a different model of care that OBs are structured to provide. I switched to a midwife and never looked back. Most Certified Professional Midwives in this area have a back up physician and have been fully trained before being certified by the state of Texas. When I did my research, I discovered that midwives are actually more experienced and knowledgable about managing labor and assisting birth, because it is all they do - no surgeries, etc. A great website for the state of Texas is:
