Driveway Safety Net

Has anyone used a driveway safety net? I'm thinking about buying one because my 1 year old loves to roll balls down the driveway and run into the street to get them. The nets I saw on-line are expensive, so I want to make sure they aren't a waste of money.

What can I do next?

I purchased a driveway net and love it! We have had no problems and it has kept many balls from rolling in the street. It has been sturdy and works wonderful. I bought it because it was recommended by a friend who has the same kind and she really likes hers too. Check it out at this sight. I like how easy it is to use and put away.

I went through the same dilemma, but opted to not buy the expenseive net after I saw one at a friend house. It blocked the driveway, but the kids quickly learned to take a detour and went around it. What we did was to paint a line on the driveway. First rule was no one in the front yard without an adult (until they were older). Second rule was never cross the orange line. It took some time, but with three kids at differennt ages we didn't think the net would keep them safe any more than the "line" did. It worked well for us and all their friends knew our "orange line rule" for bikes, catching balls, etc.

Try eBay or Craigslist to see if there's a used one. You don't need brand spanking new for this.
But what you should imploy are guidelines. Put the net halfway up the drive. If the ball goes into the street he is to come and get you. 3 strikes and he's out.
Or you are outside with him when he's playing. Wait! A 1year old? Outside alone playing roll the ball? How about teaching him how to kick instead and put him in the back yard kicking the ball into the net?

Who ever said this 1 yr old was outside alone???

Anyway...trusting that he is NOT alone (LOL) I think the nets are a great idea...unfortunately I don't have any experience with them. Let us know if you find a reasonable one!

I always park my car at the end of the driveway sideways. It also stops people from pulling in when my kids are playing, and its free.
This worked for me.
