Hello Ladies :) I have a friend who moved here from New York and does not have a drivers license. In New York every one takes public transportation and alot of people do not need a car so they don't get a license. My question is my friend is 26 and what are the procedures to getting a tx drivers license? Do you need a permit 1st? Does any one know a good recommendation for a driving teacher? Any advice and help would be great!

Thanks :)

What can I do next?

Lots of choices but my kids went through Metro Driving school in Hurst. It takes several weeks to go thru it but you get a permit within 3 days I think.
They could make modifications for adults, I don't know.
It would benefit her if she has never driven, especially in the metroplex.

Don't think school is required over 18, she'll need to pass driving and written - she should call local DPS for exact info.

Contact the motor vehicle department in your local area and get information. They should know of schools or places that teach driving. They will need a permit for the driving and they will need to take a written test.

Good luck to your friend.
