Dressing "Country" at Preschool

My daughter's 4 year old classroom worked on City vs. Country this month, and they are ending it with a "country" themed party, and want the kids to come to school dressed "country", on Friday. Well, I can't think of anything in my daughters wardrobe that goes with that theme, and I can't afford to go out and buy anything. SO, what ideas can you come up with for a country theme? Please help! Lol...

What can I do next?

What everyone else has said: go with denim and a bandana. Sometimes you can find little cowboy hats for cheap at the dollar store. (I love that place for kids.) You don't want to send her to school in boots because she needs to be able to play in the shoes, so don't worry about that.

She could wear her hair in a 'pony' tail. :)

Jeans and a little plaid shirt? Pigtails or braids with plaid ribbons? Do you have any overalls she could wear?

You can always get a couple of bandanas for a buck or two, and add that to an outfit for a "country" theme...... Tie a bandana around her neck as a neckerchief...

Braids with ribbons on the ends, a few freckles dotted on her cheeks with a light brown eye brow pencil, jeans and a plain oxford style shirt, even an older siblings that is tied in front. She could wear a tank top under it if it's too immodest. A scrap of cloth cut in a triangle around the outside of her collar, all kinds of different things.

Google cowboy/cowgirl costumes, both purchased and home made. You'll get tons of ideas that way.

Does she have an oxford? Unbutton the bottom buttons and tie the two flappy ends...and a pair of jeans.

Jeans or jean shorts, cowboy boots, plaid shirt (or button down short), cowboy hat or straw hat, maybe a vest. Jean shorts and cowboy boots are super cute on girls.

I have to laugh because I didn't dress much differently than my city friends when I attended a school that was pretty rural. I'd put her in sneakers, jeans (or overalls) or a jean skirt, pigtails, and a t-shirt or button up flannel shirt or something. I think they are looking for a farmer type look.

Does she have a denim dress?
Or maybe one that is plaid or gingham in design?
Don't fret too much - us country folk do dress to go to work/school! *L*

Do you have jean shorts or a jean skirt? Just wear that with a checkered shirt or tank top. Braid her hair or put it in pig tails. That's country! :)

Visit a thrift store. I'm sure you'll find all kinds of things cheap. Don't be afraid to look in the boy's section for shirts and overalls.

You've received some great suggestions.

Have fun!!

jeans rolled up at bottom or overalls (stick a plastic daisy coming out of the chest pocket) , small metal pail (paint pail found at hardware stores with handle) with her lunch inside or perhaps an apple for the teacher! (wrapped in a hankerchief)......
