Dr. Martin Versus Pueblo Peds???

Thank you everybody for your recommendations for Pediatricians... I am still in process of deciding and need some more information. I have been spoiled with our last pediatrician and wouldn't be switching if we hadn't moved so far away. I am still "mourning" the loss. ;-)

I have had a lot of people recommend Pueblo Peds and Mesa Peds -- but the San Tan office of Mesa Peds has only women and my 4 boys prefer to see a man... bummer for me. So that leaves me trying to decided between Pueblo Peds and another recommendation I saw in some MamaSource Archives -- Dr. Martin at Southwest Pediatrics (no website).

The thing I am not liking about Pueblo Peds is that the Mercy office (the one I would go to)alternates which doctors are there each week. I would really like to get the doctor of my preference when I call and since traveling to the other office isn't an options, that means my children would have to get sick on our doctors "on" week or I would have to see another doctor. However, they seem to have great response time and wait times... this is a plus. But does it outweigh the desire for the same doctor everytime. Oh -- and the website is a bonus.

Then there is Dr. Martin. The staff seems super friendly. I actually peeked inside the office and loved it. BUT -- I know nothing about wait times and staff response... Does anyone have any experience with this office? This doctor? There is no website which makes me wonder how "up to date" the office is. And, I worry that with one doctor, the wait times will be longer...

Could use some serious help on this one, ladies.... Thanks in advance!

K.,

My son is 3 and has been with Pueblo Peds since he was born. He has no issues at all with seeing any of the 3 doctors there. They are all great and he is comfortable with each of them, so I would not worry about that. The most important thing is being able to be seen when you NEED to be seen and that has never been a problem with them. They also have great nurses that get back to you quickly when you call with a question. They are a VERY WELL run office. Hope this helps.

Dr. Salek at Pueblo Peds....the BEST with boys! If he's not in at Mercy that week, you can go to the Mesa office. We've done this only a couple of times- he's worth it!

I've taken my three kids to pueblo for 6 years. We see Dr. Cimanello and he is so great with the kids! As far as I know He is always at the Gilbert office. I think its just Dr. Chiles and Salek that rotate. Dr. Cimanello is usually really easy to see same day. Their staff is really sweet too! Good luck!!

I have to reiterate just how great Pueblo Peds is. I have been very happy with them. The wait times are important to me-- I've never had to wait more than a few minutes past my appt. time, which is so important when you have an impatient toddler! I also have never once had trouble getting a same day appt. AND the nurses are prompt about calling you back when you call with a question. We have seen several different people there, including the nurse practitioner, and it has been no big deal. If anything, seeing different doctors can result in different perspectives and opinions and I think that's a good thing! All of the child's info is in their database and every doctor has a write-on laptop thing, so anyone you see will have access to all of your child's records right there with them. Pueblo Peds is definitely up on the technology front. You can even sign up on Twitter for updates from them. I can't recommend them enough.

Hi, there! We use Dr. Martin, and he is just great. He's very blunt and plain-spoken, but he's a great guy to work with and is very accepting of parents' decisions. Their staff is great too. The wait time is usually under 30 minutes. We're very grateful to have them! Feel free to ask me any questions you have about him specifically.
