My 14 year old son has 4 impacted wisdom teeth, and I've made the appointment to have them removed by Dr. David Benesh at 6 Day Dental. Has anyone had an experience with this person or procedure that you could share with me? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Dr. Benesh is NOT an Oral Surgeon - he is a periodontist. You WANT to have an oral surgeon remove wisdom teeth, especially if they are impacted! Oral Surgeons have an extra two years of training in procedures like this and I wouldn't settle for anything less than the CORRECT specialist.

Would you go to the dermatologist for infertility issues? Of course not! So don't let a periodontist do the work of an Oral Surgeon.

Be careful with 6 Day Dental. They pressure you really hard and talk you into things before you really have a chance to think about it.

I would cancel the appointment, and be prepared for them to give you a hard time about it. But do what is best for your son and take him to the CORRECT specialist. Message me if you want a few recommendations.

When I was 15 I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth, they put me under (local) pulled them all out and I was out of the doctor's office when I woke up. I didn't have any problems, a little swelling, I kept it clean and was fine. I got my braces after... gargle with salt water...

B.,
I agree with J.J. Go to an oral surgeon. I recommend Drs Chan and Phan in Richardson. They are both MDs as well as DDS and work together on each patient. You would be amazed at just what their x-rays show--way more than the dentist. They can see just where nerves and other things are located.
The anesthesia is the most dangerous part so it's important to have someone who does this kind of surgery all the time.
I like my regular dentist, but I would never have let him extract my boys' wisdom teeth.
Good luck to you!

My mother used 6 Day Dental and had a very good experience for some major dental work she had done. They were very professional. She used the location in Coppell. I don't remember if she used Dr. Benesh or not but I can say her experience was safe and the doctors were very dependable and good at what they did. She had gum work and a root canal done as well.
