I would reseriously consider a doctor who doesn't offer consultations for new parents. We interviewed three doctors while I was pregnant with my first child to get a feel for them. I can highly recommend Dr. Julee Morrow--located near Harris SW. Good luck!

Don't know Dr. Dalton but just wanted to let you know I agree with everything on your list except the Cook Children's part. We too, felt that was a good thing until our son got gravely ill and we got caught up the Cook's "machine." An independent pediatrician would have researched which children's hospital was most appropriate for his condition and referred us there, rather than automatically sending us to Cook's. That mistake proved to be fatal for my 8 year old son. We are blessed to have choices here in the DFW area...with my remaining son, I will never again go to a doctor who pledges blind allegiance to just one facility.

Congratulations on your adoption!

Blessings to you and your new family,

M.

J.,

My daughter and son ( 20 years and 17 years ) use Dr. Saksena. Back when my daughter was a baby, we saw Dr. Dalton several times. He would examine her, and start to write an RX never explaining what was wrong. I would have to ask him what was wrong with her. Then, thank goodness, we saw Dr. Saksena when he wasn't there and have been going back since. You will never find a more dedicated doctor than her.We love her to death. She will not hesitate to call you in the evening herself to check on your child.

She is located on Grapevine Hwy ( Blvd 26 ) in Richland Hills. Her number is ###-###-####.

I have an inhome daycare and all my parents that I have referred over to her have loved her. You will not go wrong choosing her!

As far as my family is concerned, you couldn't find a better doctor. I don't know his stand on the vaccine issue because we have always followed the regular schedule. He is the doctor to our four children-13yrs to 17 months-and always has been. I LOVE him and his staff. He has had the same nurses, Emma and Ella, (and added some others) for the entire time we have gone to him. They have weekend hours and after hours on call nurses which have always called back w/in 10 minutes or less. I feel like we are a part of the family. Highly recommend him, highly!!!

When I was pregnant with my first child 16 years ago, Dr. Dalton did give consultations. He came highly recommended to me and we have used him ever since. (One of the buildings in the Hurst complex is named in his honor). I will say he is very quiet, and he doesn't suit everyone personality-wise, but he's always been great with my kids. One thing I remember from our consult was that he recommended this book for reference: http://www.amazon.com/Caring-Your-Young-Child-Revised/dp/...

I don't know about the vaccine schedule, although I know I have some leeway with my 12yo dd with her upcoming vaccines. His staff is great; Emma has been with him forever and I really like her. He also has a nurse-practioner, Lori Payne, that I love. (She's probably been with him almost 15 years) If Dr. Dalton is booked, we can often get in with her (although we could also see another doctor in the practice in an emergency). And now that my daughter is growing up, she prefers to see a woman for her checkups. The front office has always been professional. I think there are separate appointment times for well-child checkups, but I'm not sure. I do know they have separate waiting areas for well children. The practice is affiliated with Cooks and it is located in Hurst at Precint Line and Martin Rd. My neighbors use other doctors in that practice and have been very happy. Give it a try and if you don't care for Dr. Dalton, try one of the others in the group. We've seen Dr. Deitchman (sp?) when he had the weekend duty (he's the one most of my neighbors use) and I liked him also.

A couple of my kiddos have seen Dr. Dalton when their regular pedi, Dr. Lopez has been out. He is an older man, no ancient but older, and nice but wouldn't be my first choice. He is with Cooks Children's in Hurst off of Mid-Cities and Precinct Line.

I can tell you more about Dr. Lopez, who if you were going to that office, I'd recommend over any of the others. Dr. Lopez takes as much time as needed with your child-- no standard 5 minute face time with him! He listens to all of your concerns and does not rush you. He definitly cares about doing what is best for your baby or child, and part of that is includes your needs. The Dr. Sears alternate vaccine schedule-- I'm am unsure of the particulars about that, but during vaccination times he tells what he would recommend and then okays that with you before doleing out the vaccines, so I am sure that he would have no problem discussing an alternate plan. Appointments are easy to get. I am sure that if you went with Dalton, they would be too since they are in the same practice. I have never had an issue getting any of my 3 in when needed, even when one of the times was New Year's Eve close to closing (breathing problems with one of my sons, and one of the occations that I saw Dr. Dalton). I am unsure of what you mean by separate well baby hours- all I can say is they have worked with me on scheduling well babies for 2 of my kids and sick visits for all 3 kids on the appointment block, and Dr. Lopez has given them each their own complete and individualized attention during these visits.

Good Luck! and Congrats!

Hi J.! I take my two kids to Dr Karimi, Dr. Saksena is in the office with her. I have seen both drs and they are both wonderful. They are off of Blvd. 26, just about 5 minutes from Hurst. They share the weekend office visits with the drs in dr Dalton's office. So, on occasion, I have seen dr. Dalton. I didn't care for him. He seems very dry and hard for me to talk to and connect with. When my child is sick, it really helps to have a dr that will talk to you about it. I hope this helps you a little.
Congrats on your new daughter! What a blessing!

I was recommended to Dr. Dalton 11 years ago by my OB-GYN who also used him. We have been using him ever since for both of my children. I can't imagine using anyone else. He is definitely a quiet man, but he will sit there with you and explain things to you until you understand it. We have always gotten a same day appointment, especially with really sick ones. They will get you in asap. I honestly don't know about the vaccination shots, but I want to say they have early morning visits for babies. It's been so long ago, I can't remember. He is part of Cook Children's network and is in Hurst off of Precinct Line. I would think that you could call up there and ask someone about the shot schedule and well baby hours. A big bonus is his nurses!! They are the best at what they do! We just love them all! I don't think you would be disappointed! I have referred so many people there and they have all come back and said how much they liked him!
Congrats on your new upcoming arrival! I hope that you find a good doctor that makes you feel safe and secure with your little one!

If Dr. Dalton doesn't do consultations, I would consider looking at some other doctors who will take the time to sit and talk to you before you get your daughter. When I was pregnant I interviewed our current doctor and she spent almost 30 min talking to us, explaining how things work in her office, and answering our questions.
