I will be praying for you. It could be anything! It may just be that he needs more iron. Keep me updated.

Now they need him to come back asap for more testing. I am really worried. That is really the only info they are giving me...PLEASE tell me this is not the beginning of something serious. I love my lil booger so much. He is my world and my joy. My angel!

A.,
I would not freak out yet. I know it can be scary...but just go back in and have the tests done. It could be something very treatable, like anemia, etc. It could be nothing. Good luck!!!!
I would be very straight forward with your pedi and ask for a copy of the labs. Then ask him/her or the nurse (if she's really an RN) to explain what it means. This is their job and they should have no problem doing it for you. I think that these days pediatricians are better at following up on abnormal lab results than they used to be. I know that its scary to have the doctor's office call and say the blood count is low but it could really just be a fluke. Often times something as simple as a cold can affect your blood counts. I know it's hard to not worry but try not too. I'm sure that your son is just fine. If you need any more info please pm. I'd be happy to answer questions:-} M.
Hello A.,
if it's his red blood cell count that's low, then he has anemia. He just might need some iron suplement. Most likely if you're giving him vitamins, they don't have iron. Call the doctors office back and ask them to please tell you what is that is low. there are several things they can count in our blood... red blood cells, white cells, platelets, etc. ~C.~
