Double Strollers?

I have been researching double strollers as I am due in a few months and currently have a 16 month old. I was wondering if any of you have had any experiences with the Baby Trend Deluxe Sit and Stand double stroller. I currently have a Baby Trend single stroller (travel system) and hate it. The wheels lock up and I run into everything. I have read good reviews on the double stroller but would like to hear from you ladies if possible. If I go with a different brand I would have to buy a whole new car seat. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :0)

We have that one and LOVE it! It's so much more compact than other double strollers and I think it's easier to "drive" too. And, ANY carseat works on it. Good luck.

The best double stroller is the is the Phil & Teds. I am not sure of the current model name, but check out their website at www.philandtends.com. These are actually modular so you can add the double section when you need it and stop using it when you don't. I am not 100% sure of the website either, so you might have to search but it is definitely phil & teds. It is expensive but really worth it.

Hello, I currently have a Sit 'n Stand Elite Double Stroller that I ordered from www.onstepahead.com, it comes with a detachable metal bar to hold a car seat, a plastic tray with cup holder and a removable canopy.

This stroller claims to be compatible with many car seats including: Baby Trend, Cosco Designer 22 and Arriva, Peg Perego, Evenflo Cozy Carry, Portabout and On My Way, Century Vante, and Graco Snug Ride.

I had a different Graco car seat and it fit comfortably (you would not have to buy a new car seat). I really like this stroller and it has rubber tires for a smoother ride this stroller also get lots of attention and questions from other moms when I take it out. My 4 year old loves it and my 7 month old sits with the assistance of a blanket because the seats are wide. So far I have not had any problems with it.

On the website there are actually two stroller types; a double stroller and a sit n’ stand. There are different options to choose from at a comparably reasonable price. I hope this helps you out a little, congratulations on your new addition.

I also do not have experience with that stroller but I do have the Joovy Sit and Stand and it has been great. You do not need to purchase another carseat for it, the carseat just sits on top of the extension and is strapped in so any seat would work. Good luck!

The Baby Trend Sit n Stand is the SAME SIZE as regular double strollers - you can see it is the same frame as their regular one. I have one and I do like it. I researched quite a bit, so I'll share what I learned.

-The SnS can fit up to 3 kids (I have a 3 yr, 1 yr, 6 mo old).
-There is a shorter sit n stand by a different brand sold at Babies R us which is a shorter length, however, it doesn't have cup holders (you can buy separate cup holders to attach though)
-Disadvantage of the SnS: two babies can't sleep in it. Only the baby in the front can sleep. So, with two babies, you may want the kind that both seats can recline.
-Also, for younger kids to sit in the back seat - the buckle is kind of weird and only attached at the sides, so it keeps them upright, but it can come loose and they would just fall right out if they were not holding themselves up.
-Sometimes it is a bit of a pain to fold up and open up, but it's been pretty smooth to push around (occasionally the wheels lock, but not too often).
-The Baby trend has an attachment that converts the front seat into the car seat carrier - it's hard to take off, but it's not the end of the world.
-The Baby Trend was the cheaper of the 2 strollers that I researched.

If I had to go back, I would probably buy the shorter one sold at Babies R Us and buy some cupholders to attach. It would be nice not to have to push around one that is so long - it's impossible to maneuver if you have something in one of your hands (i.e. crying baby that doesn't want to be in their seat, etc)

I have that one and absolutely love it! It folds up very compact and isn't as heavy as it looks. It maneuvers pretty well and goes in smaller spaces then the side by side. You can use any carseat with it. Since my oldest was 2 1/2 when my youngest was born we never did have an issue with a real seat in the back. With yours being younger you may want to check into the one that has the ability for a seat in the back if he stills likes to nap in the stroller.

I actually have that stroller and do like it a lot. It seems a little less of a problem than the typical double stroller. We actually got the one that you can make the back a seat instead of a bench so that when the baby gets bigger and wants to sleep we can have him go in that seat and then our older one can sit in the front, since the front does not recline all the way back. Right now though, my three year old loves the bench...

Hi T.,
I have the Baby trend sit and stand. I love it. It's so practical and suits the needs of both my little ones. My only complaint is that it is loooong! I couldn't have done it any other way. I would definitely buy it all over again. Best wishes to you with the birth of your second child.

I have a graco quatro tour duo glider double and love it. It is shorter than most double strollers, it actually folds up 20% more compact than the regular graco duo glider. I had a jeep like the other person said, but I HATED IT! They are TOO BIG! Also, don't get an evenflo they are CRAP, you get what you pay for. I think you can put other carseats in the graco, but you might want to check. I was actually looking into the baby trend about 6 months ago, but I heard something goes wrong with the wheels. If you are looking for used you can always check other mother's they get a lot of double strollers in and are reasonably priced, usually around half of what they sell for new, depending on the condition.

I dont have experience in that stroller however, I purchased at used Jeep double stroller (it is quite long) at a yard sale for $25. I like it. I can put my graco car seat in it because it sits in the seat and then the stroller has a belt that goes over the car seat to ensure they are strapped in. My almost two year old loves the wheel in the front because he honks and plays music. I did see a lot of double strollers even the one you mentioned at Kid to Kid on Thunderbird at I think 75th somewhere. Not sure how you feel about used. They were around the $50 range.

Hello,

I have a 17 month old and a 3 month old and after a ton of research we purchased the Contours Options by Kolcraft. We have not received it yet however all the reviews say it is a really neat stroller with lots of seating options (it takes an infant carrier). It is large, but most doubles are. My sister has a sit and stand that she really likes, but I don't think my 17 month old would stay put. I like the idea that I can strap her in a seat, plus when the kids get older they can face eachother and keep eachother entertained. Anyways, just something for you to take a look at. They have them at Babies R Us to check out. We bought ours on Amazon.com for $185.00.

My girlfriend has the Baby Trend sit and stand and I think she really liked it except for the large size. I have the Joovy double stroller and like it but there is a lack of storage(although most double strollers lack storage). I did buy the Joovy Parent Organizer from Wal-Mart.com which has been great. I nanny for a 6 month old and I have a 17 month old and the stroller works great.

I would highly recommend the Phil & Ted's. We have been using ours for 2 months now with our infant and 2-year-old, and we LOVE it!

Pros: very easy to maneuver, narrow frame, easy to fold, can be used as a single or double stroller (great for when the older child wants to walk instead of ride)

Cons: pricey (but well worth it!), does not accommodate an infant car seat and an older child at the same time, storage basket is a little small, sun canopy could be bigger

I just have to say that I wasn't sure about this stroller due to the fact that I wouldn't be able to use the infant car seat with it. Now that we have been using it for a few months, I realize that this is not a big deal at all. If I'm going somewhere quick, I just carry the infant car seat anyhow. Or on occasion, I will still use the single stroller that fits the infant car seat, and my daughter will walk or my husband pushes her in a travel stroller.
