Hi, I need advice on what kind of double stroller to buy. They are pretty expensive and it is an investment and I want to make sure I have researched it and made the best decision for my needs.

My daughter is currently 17 months old. I care for a 3 year old and he will be having a brother or sister in the next 2 weeks who I also will be caring for. So I need a double stroller to accommodate an Infant (as I will get the baby when he/she is 3 months old) and my daughter will be almost 2 years old.

These are the ones I have researched and interested in..............

Maclaren - Twin Triumph 2008 Stroller
Peg Perego - Aria Twin 60 / 40 2008 Stroller
Combi - Twin Savvy LX Double Stroller
Chicco - Sydney C5 Twin Stroller

I would like to know the pros & cons and if you have had any and they have worked or if you did not like it. Also if you preferred a side by side or a front to back. Also if I have not listed one that you found was GREAT. Thank you so much. Lisa

OK, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE. FROM WHAT I AM READING I SHOULD USE A BACK TO FRONT & NOT A SIDE BY SIDE. HOW ABOUT THE "Baby Trend Deluxe Sit N Stand Plus Double Stroller". IT IS REASONABLE AND CAN USE ANY INFANT CAR SEAT. MY BABY AS SHE GETS OLDER CAN STAND AS AN OPTION. THOUGHTS PLAESE??????????????????

What can I do next?

Hi Lisa A

I have 22 year old triplets, however when they were infants, I had a Perego triplet stroller and absolutely loved it. Perego is a wonderful quality stroller. Haven't had experience with the other brands.

Hello Lisa-

I would not recommend a front to back only because if both children(out of the infant seat) want to lay back and sleep you can not do that. The front seat does not recline. Also being a mom of a boy 28 months and daughter 14 months, they both know how to kick and it gets very tiring. I have too bought many, many strollers to which I still own everyone of them. I would recommend the Maclaren twin techno 2006 model side by side. (This is the one we use the most) It is easy to fold, holds up to 55 lbs each seat, which is great!!!!!It is easy to push and it washes very well with soap and water. We traveled to Hawaii with it and it was awesome. They even make a bag to cover it, which I would also recommend if you are planning to take it on a plane. DO NOT buy a bumbleride Queen Bee, what a waste of money. Also for the standing......show me a child who will say put if you stop....good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Maclaren!! No doubt about it. I researched it and researched it. It is side by side. It is very light weight. It fits into all doorways and have not had a problem with it. The stroller is very easy to turn. The only thing I wish it had was more storage but other than that it's wonderful. You want the stroller to be able to recline all the way. Plus if you have front to back, the one in the back can throw things up front and pull hair. The people at Baby Love are very knowledgeable about strollers.

Lisa I bought the Kolcraft Countours double stroller. It is a tandem one. It is not available to look at at a store, you must purchase it online. But it is available on babierus, walmart, etc. It is a little cumbersome, but all of the doubles are. It comes with one attachment for the carrier. When you fodl it up, you do have to take the carrier attachment off and turn the front seat around. It is pretty easy to do and doesn't take much time once you get the hang of it. Once the baby is not sitting in the carrier, you only have to take one of the seats off when you fold it up. The only downfall is there is no snack trays, but I have seen them on the internet for about $6-7 each, so it may be something to get. I like it because the seats can be configured so many ways.. facing each other, facing you, facing out, one facing you and one facing out...you can't do that with any of the other tandems that I have looked at. I have a 2 month old and a 18 month old so this is a great feature for the The price is reasonable only $199 plus shipping. I hope this helps you.

Dear Lisa,

I'm a mom of four and no matter what brand of stoller you choose to purchase, make sure that it's the kind that is back to back. I actually had a triple one at one point.

The double strollers that have the seats that are next to one another don't fit very well anywhere. They're very difficult to manouver in stores and in all public places.

Therefore, whichever brand you choose is a personal preference, but you should also think about the style so that you're able to get around comfortably.

Good Luck and Enjoy those Munchkins; they really do grow up fast!

I have a Graco single stroller AND had a Graco Double Stroller and loved the ease of operation and the large basket underneath.........I urge you NOT to go for one of the super expensive ones because you will not use it for very long and end up selling it for almost nothing....................The 3 year old if tall like my daughter will not fit comfortably for very long because their legs and feet will begin to get caught in the wheels, also they will not want to be in a stroller for much longer also (sorry but this has been my experience along with alot of my mommy friends). If it's for the 17 mos old and the 3 month old, you'L. be good with the double stroller for a while. The Graco double stroller accomodates an infant car seat as well as folding up section to hold the infant in as well. front back is ALWAYS better than sidebyside.........Sidebysides are too large and difficult to get in and out of most locations/doors. Babiesrus allows you to purchase a replacement plan for whichever you choose so if anything goes wrong they will replace no questions asked! Hope I have helped! Be careful if you are buying used to check for recalls!!!!

Lisa I used the gracco front to back double stroller w/infant carrier. It was reasonably priced and has prooven to be well worth the money I spent. When my kids decided they didn't want to ride in their "baby stroller" anymore I just packed my double jogging stroller that is side by side in the van and gave the Gracco to my girlfriend who just had a second baby. The stroller has now gone through four kids. Anyway I miss it because the jogger is side by side and we are a real wide load trying to manuever in stores. I researched my double stroller for a long while before purchasing it. I found the employees in the stores are not very helpful and I relied on the Mom reviews. It's hard when you go in the store because all the strollers have the locking tag on the wheel so you can't really manuever it.
I did find Amazon, Ebay, Overstock.com to be very helpful and a tad less expensive. I have gone through 4 strollers in four years. My favorite's have been the Gracco. They fold down nice and aren't too heavy. I broke my back when our son was 2 months old so I feel every pound and found out I was pregnant when he was 3 months old.
Good luck....Keep in mind you need storage and carrying 3 kids around you need something that isn't too heavy.

The combi double stroller is a dream. It's perfect for infants because it has a boot so they won't fall out and it's easy to steer and store.

Have you checked out the Phi & Ted? It's awesome! A single stroller that converts to a double when you need so you aren't stuck with a giant stroller. They sell it on TinyRide.com

Have you considered buying a used double stroller? They are really expensive brand new. I have always liked Graco ~good quality items at affordable prices. Too bad we don't live in the same town. I'm trying to sell mine. Good luck.

Hi Lisa,
If you are interested I have a 2007 maclaren twin triumph in navy like new. I bought it 6 mos ago.
I just used it a couple of times as my son decided to walk and not ride anymore.
It comes with instructions and raincover.
I researched soooo much before getting it, I tried:
1) Phil and Teds - didn't like it. No sun coverage for the second rider, no basket as the second rider's feet go in the basket, heavy...and I can go on and on
2) Peg Perego Tender XL - Heavy, expensive and very difficult to steer with your heavier child in the front seat.
3) Mac Twin Triumph, I think it's the best one, very lightweight, folds small (great for the car and travel), both kids go comfortable, liners are reversible so you can use one color for each kid and adjust the straps accordingly....and I don't have anything more to say as I just used it no more than 5 times......
As you can see I LOVE strollers (I have had several singles too...)...
OK just let me know if you are interested, good luck !!

I am a mom to one so I have not used a double stroller but wanted to let you know there is a children's consigment shop in Palm Coast going out of business that has everything for sale. I apologize that I can not remember the name but they are in the plaza with the movie theatre, dominoe's, I believe ACE hardware is at the end, and Bright House is in the complex ~ Just before you get to the W Section off Palm Coast Pkwy on the Left (if headed toward US 1).

Lisa:
I am a mother of 3. Now 7, 5 and 3. For a while I had a double then a triple. My biggest concern was price and the weight capacity. I found that the stroller available at the stores were expensive and I purchased my online. I would discourage you in getting the side by side, only because of the width it is harder to get through a door way and move through a crowd. I was concerned about the weight because my oldest at the time was almost 5. You also have to think about how often will you use it. I had problems putting mine into the trunk of my car so in was a pain at times.

HI
I went through the same thing. Definately do not get the C5, those are known to not have good back support. Do you live anywhere near Baby Love? If you go there they can tell you all the pros and cons on everything..they are very educated. I ended up getting the Graco DuoGlider. It seems to be the most popular and I have loved it so far. You can get it for about 150. That one is front to back and you put the newborn laying down in the back.
Good Luck

Well... I cant tell you which one to buy because I have not found the perfect one.. I can tell you which not to buy. I had the same situation... My daughter was 19 months when mny new daughter arrived. I figured Peg prego because of the brand name was a great choice... I loved the strollers weight... That was important to me because of the carrying in and out of the car... Well as it turns out it was the only good thing about the stroller. It does not fold too compact so it is hard to store. The basket under the seat is huge which I loved... unfortunatelly it breaks in the first month and it starts dragging, the sun shade is worthless, the newborn had no way to cover the sun out of her eyes unless I place a sheet over the canopy to her feet but this made it hot. It is a good city stroller if you are in a perfect sidewalk... forget about it rollung in uneven surfaces and much less the park or grass. The seats are pretty narrow so if your toddler has a wide back... forget it!The cup holders and tray are worthless well... I would suggest you go into epinions.com THat site has the general publics opinion about everything including strollers... They warned me about the Peg Prego but I was so set in getting it that I refused to believe it... Well now I have it and hate it and my husband gets to tell me I told you so everytime I complain. My friend let me borrow her front and back seater by graco. It was so much better and half the price!!! But I hated how bulky it is when you close it and how heavy it is to take in and out of the car.
My favorite single stroler was the Mclaren (the light weight one (Which comes in umbrella version and a little heavier if you want the seat to recline for the newborn. For our last trip since we had to be in and out of airports I took those two umbrella strollers and connected thm tightly with the stroller connector they sell at babies r us... It was not perfect but it was so much better than the pegprego and still lightweight... Not to mention if I only needed a single I coul fold down one and stick it in th basket... Like I said.. not perfect but it is so much easier to handle... I did not try the mc laren twin but if it is as good as its single version go for it... btw it is the one both epinions and the sales person reccommneded instead of the pegprego.
Good luck and let me know which works... I am still searching
