I just got through taking a breastfeeding class and decided i should own my own pump instead of renting from babies r us. N e suggestions on which one to get. Medela seems to be the most known but not sure about spending the money, which brings me to my next question, does n e one have a pump that they r willing to sell?? And how much does a used one usually cost?

I have an older Medela Pump N Style that works great that I am selling for $75. It works great, I just don't have a need for it anymore.
I loved my avent pump. The double machanical was great and I got the hand pump which is awesome for when you are on the go.
I bought a Medela Pump in Style at a consignment sale for $100. You might want to check out a local consignment sale like Just Between Friends, that way you get to pick which pump looks the best and has all the accessories. You can also check Craigslist and Ebay. Depending on how determined you are to breastfeed you might want to wait until after the baby is born to purchase one. I didn't use mine for quite awhile since they want you to establish nursing before using a pump.
check craigs list. I just sold one for $50.00 (Medela Pump in style) that was 10+ years old and still worked like a charm! I think prices will vary on age, but they are REALLY good pumps!
I have a barely used (nursed for 2-3 weeks) Medela Pump in Style. I think it retailed for $200 or so I'll sell it for $150. Let me know

I highly recommend the Ameda Purely Yours breast pump. I do not have one for sell, but you can find them at most lactation centers and even online.

I know it has been a little while since I had my kids but I got an Ameda pump and loved it. I qualified for WIC (Women Infants and Children) at the time and they gave me my pump (worth about $150) for Free! if you google WIC TX you can find the link to see if you qualify. if not the Ameda works great and is less expensive than the Medela, I had several friends that used the medela and they love it also.
Although I STRONGLY encourage you to Breastfeed, I would also suggest that you set the money aside (choose one and do all the research to know which one you want to buy) and not buy the pump till you know for sure breast feeding will work out for you. I had a friend that bought the big expensive Medela and ended up not being able to breast feed, money well spent went down the drain. and believe me you will be glad you did, after the baby is born and you've been feeding for about 2 weeks you will know for sure what you want to do, just order it off the internet and it will be delivered to you.

Congrats on the little bun! I recommend all Medela products. There pumps and accesories are the best! I bought the Medela Pump In Style Advance Metro Double Pump. I bought it from the hospital store for about $280. It's wonderful! I would sell you mine, but you never know if you will have another one. You can also rent them from the hospitals, be sure and ask them. Good luck, L.!
I agree with the previous post about waiting until you know for sure breastfeeding is going to work for you and baby. I am glad that I gave it a good try, but in hindsight wish I hadn't spent over $300 on a pump that I used for 2 weeks. I have the Medela Pump In Style Metro Double Pump w/ the letdown feature. I'd be glad to sell it to you for $150 whenever you are ready!

I recommend the Medela Pump In Style. Its expensive but definitely worth it if you are committed to breastfeeding. When considering the price, think of how much money you will save by nursing v. formula feeding and that might make you more comfortable in spending the money on a good pump. I sold mine on craigslist so hopefully you can find one on there or maybe ebay. I think you need to make sure that you are committed to nursing though first. Sometimes first time moms need the pumps in the beginning too in order to make their milk come in faster after the baby is born. If you are going to nurse for 6 months or longer then a pump definitely is financially feasible considering the savings of not buying formula. Good luck!

I'd definitely get a Medela one! I purchased the Medela swing single pump, and it worked great for me. I borrowed my friend's Medela double pump when I went back to work because it was a lot faster, but it's quite a bit more expensive.
Rent one from the hospital or a lactation consultant for the 1st two weeks, it's reasonable! Make sure breast feeding is going to work for you before committing that much money on something that may end up collecting dust instead. That said, loved my Medela, it was around 220.00 on-line if you can't find one for sale from someone search on-line instead of just going to Babies R Us or Target to purchase it.
I have a Medela double breast pump with a "let down" button. I bought it at Babies R Us for $350.00 and it was worth every penny. I'll sell you mine for $175.00.
