Hi Yvette!
My dog does this from time to time. She has since we got her and she is 15yrs old now. I wouldn't think too much of it, but would contact the vet just for piece of mind.
Good Luck!

hello moms, my dog has been throwing up yellow, foamy stuff about once a week - twice a week. Does anyone else have experience with that and is there anything I can do to help her?
She's 6 years old and has been doing this about 1-2 a month since she was about 4.

I agree with taking her to a veterinarian. Vomiting could be caused from MANY things including systemic illness (kidney or liver disease) or gastrointestinal illness (she ate something she wasn't supposed to or may have an inflammatory condition of her bowel, etc.) Your veterinarian can recommend tests to try to determine the cause of vomiting. Good luck!!
Hi Yvette!
I would definitely check with your vet.
Our first dog did this a lot and after speaking with our breeder, we found out that it was the food we were giving him. We ended up switching him to an organic vegetable based food (royal canin) and it solved our problems. I think it was too much protein in the old food (eukanuba).
I hope you get some answers! I know how frustrating a barfing dog can be.

Yvette, my lab has done that a couple times when, for whatever reason, I was not able to feed her when I normally should have, and she is hungry.
Research the food you are giving your pet. Most commercial pet foods are filled with lots of grains, fillers, etc. All things carnivores should not be eating. The best thing you can do for your pet is switch to raw food. Check out http://www.nw-naturals.net/. if you absolutely do not want to try raw food, check out http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/.
If you are still having issues or you would like to give you pet some extra help with meals, you can add a digestive enzyme to their food to help the stomach.
Good luck!

Hi. My dog was 12 and started throwing up yellow foam about once a week but otherwise acting fine. It wasn't the food because her diet hadn't changed. We took her to the vet who said it was an autoimmune thing and put her on steroids. He said she would have to be on them for about a year and be tested every two weeks. The steroids made her miserable and she had to pee constantly. After two months I took her off of them and was going to let nature take its course. She has been fine for 1 1/2 years but has thrown up twice recently so the problem may be back. She is 14 now so I probably wont treat it too aggressively. Hope you get it figured out.
Our dog does that if he has been in the yard eating grass. Usually we can tell when he is going to throw up and we can hold him (he is a small dog) over the toilet to throw up so he doesn't soil the rugs. He feels much better right after he throws up, and since it isn't often, I don't think it is anything to worry about. Hope this helps.
I'd check with your vet. Our dog does this, but mainly only if she's hungry & has been outside eating grass. It hasn't been weekly for a couple years, so maybe there's another problem going on.
